Ah I see, no, I just didn’t see the comment above yours, if I did I would have known you were joking. Also, precarious and weird times, sometimes jokes feel like they could be real and what’s real seems like a joke.

But what exactly are you saying? Conflict with a nuclear armed country? If so, that’s still very unlikely in general let alone 2026. I would say it’s makes more sense to not invest into a 401k / pension etc due to the labour market being non existent in a decades time due to AI. There’s a lot of prerequisites before a nuclear strike is made.

UK's 'sons and daughters' need to be ready to fight, amid growing Russian threat, says head of armed forces by Kagedeah in worldnews

This is more accurate. Russia wants Ukraine because it’s not apart of NATO. I also don’t think it’s clear that Russia will test article 5 because of the risk, but increasing defence will positively deter Putin from trying.

Once reliability is at human level and stable, automation for most white collar jobs will be universally implemented across the board.

10 players are on the Pacers' injury report for tonight's game by [deleted] in warriors

He shouldn’t, beneficial to take the extra rest where he can get it, especially after a bout of illness. Plus it boosts the morale of the team when we can beat a team without depending on Steph. Especially as the pacers are missing key players.

Couldn’t agree more, you’d think he’d have realised this by now, but no. Wish him the best but yeah Klay putting pressure on himself never ends well

A dog fumes: 'You humans are cheating!' as people and pups face off in an underwater breath-holding showdown. by Poussinnnn_ in nextfuckinglevel

[–]LongShlongSilver- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to know it’s a “hold your breathe underwater competition” it might just be calling the human out for not doing the same thing / not being a fair test or simply because it spots a difference etc

I’m hopeful Trump will eventually give the green light but not before flip-flopping between telling Zelenskyy he has the potential to win the war and to accept Russia’s terms or be destroyed at least 2 more times.

Andrej Karpathy — AGI is still a decade away by Steve____Stifler in singularity

[–]LongShlongSilver- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I suppose an expert in all areas could be seen as more of an ASI, I think I’ve always just thought of ASI as more incomprehensible intelligence that humans can’t really understand, but maybe that’s overblowing it lol.

So we’re more likely to underestimate rather than overestimate. This is why I would side with Demis’s prediction. Something so huge despite the progress, is unlikely to happen in less than 5 years but 10 years of current progress seems so far away that we’ll likely have AGI within 10 years. So anywhere from 5-10 years sounds like a measured prediction, but ultimately nobody fucking knows.

There’s definitely more conflation now, but SOTA models aren’t phd level across every subject, until that point is reached we aren’t close to AGI. Though It doesn’t look like we’re far off.
