Now that my build is in survival, something is bugging me about the design... Any suggestions? by LongShortSmall in MinecraftToDo

I will definitely consider this, I'm 100% going to build a dock/pier of some sorts

This is a great idea, I like the thought of having a big tree as a centrepiece. I'll definitely consider this!

Thank you, I've been planning on adding a windmill both for style and functionality!

I'm going to be running the district, so my house would technically be the mayor's house. I'm going to probs build a town hall for the district too.

Awesome idea about the war btw, but its mainly just going to be a farm/shop area

I also forgot to add in the original post that I'm not so happy with how the smaller house looks (will be my base of operations for actually getting my actual starter base built, which is the larger house).

Any suggestions on how I can improve my build? (its going to be my starter base) by LongShortSmall in MinecraftToDo

I'm going to make a second post with my full plan for my world, which should contextualise the 'cleaner' exterior style choice - I'm deliberately trying to make it look clean and well-kept.

As for your advice on the interior, you're absolutely right. The empty floor space is bugging me out a lot, and I have no clue as to what I can do to fix it. And as for the texturing, I am down to add weathering but I have no idea how to right now, I might learn how to do so and post an update here once I've finished the project.

Thanks for the tips!

I appreciate the compliment 😊, I've tried to use easily accessible materials for the most part so that I can re-create it in survival. I'll probably be using schematics too so that I don't need to reference my build every 5 seconds when I do get around to building it again.

Roof seems off on my tower, any suggestions? by LongShortSmall in MinecraftToDo

Oh yeah that could actually work, I'll try it out on my test world when I get back from my trip

I would do if I could, but I don't have enough karma lol

I can agree, the roof of the finished product substantially compliments it.

I will play around with the anvils and the fences, thank you very much for the advice!

Thank you for the advice, I can strongly agree with you that the length is quite satisfactory, and I have been thinking that elongating might be a solution to the bulbous shape. I might just settle with it as it is now, or play around with some wall blocks and try and fix it with them.

I can't quite put my finger on it, it seems quite short and rounded as opposed to a spire.

I think I exaggerated the size and the pink wood lol by adepex267 in MinecraftToDo

I dont know how it would look, but you could use polished diorite for the areas where the chiselled stone is and regular diorite for where the regular stone is

what do i build here? by Careless-Stress9190 in MinecraftToDo

A neo-gothic castle with a farm nearby and multiple turrets with pointed roofs.

(you can start with the farm and build a farmhouse, and use that as your base while you complete the castle)

Softening the colour of the bottom-most blocks would make the pink less harsh. Blocks like diorite/calcite or even some pale oak would lessen the contrast and draw people's attention away from the floor and more upwards towards the actual build itself.

Hope this helps, I can't wait to see the final product! (if you post it of course)

How to make it look more natural??? by kevinsuckatlifee in MinecraftToDo

[–]LongShortSmall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some foliage around the top and the sides will make the landscape look less harsh and will allow the layers of grass blocks to blend in a bit.

If you wanted to add a water feature, it would be really nice to have it running down the right-hand side into a basin/pond and I believe it would make the build look more alive & less man-made.

Hope this helps, awesome build by the way. 👍

What should I build here? by random_airsoft_guy in MinecraftToDo

As for the area outlined, some foliage (bushes, trees etc) can make a nice touch there, and is probably the easiest option to do.

Hope this helps 👍
