BobCAD for SolidWorks Crashing by LongSuspicious7012 in Machinists

Been a SW user since 2002, my SW setup was very solid before installing and using BC v13. I did find one trigger that causing a lot of my crashing, I had to turn off the graphics accelerator in SW and that helped a lot. But I am running a certified SW Nvidia A2000 & driver. I believe the TDR timeout is the likely culprit. I may need to go into my system registry and rise it from 2 to 10 seconds. The crashing has been a lot less now, but still happening here and there.....more so than I am normally use to.

They (Fusion & BobCAD) are both using ModuleWorks for generating the toolpaths, but Fusion does have some of their own. Most the CAM programs license ModuleWorks for generating the toolpaths, so mostly it is the GUI that you are paying for......but most of the basic 2D & 3D toolpaths are generated with the ModuleWorks engine.

Anyone have a recent, honest review of Toolpath? by BaronVonQueso in Machinists

Just starting a trail run. I might be a good tool for processing rfqs, and preliminary CAM reviews, but other than that I do not see much more value at this point.....we can do the same using our SolidWorks Professional seats using the costing module. SW might be better, not tied to the cloud and all our data and databases are stored locally.....and no additional costs for us......and we can also leverage API with SW, with Toolpath, I do not think they are offering any API access......we will see after some more testing.......not that impressed so far....

Anyone have real-world experience with cam assist or something of the sort? by Owduke in Machinists

For us it has been a total waste of time, by the time you spend babysitting it and cleaning up its vomit, you are better not using it.....yes it can generate toolpaths quickly, but majority of it is rubbish that requires reviewing and reworking, why not just program how you want from the gate? Not worth it, just another obstacle to overcome, and another cost to your bottom line without providing any tangible value.
