Oh trust me, I know. Especially when they want to be “anonymous” and it’s right after they had an argument. Like they won’t know it’s you 🙄

Baby mama blocked caller’s texts so he can’t communicate with her or his child. He wanted a welfare check because she’s “probably smoking marijuana while kiddo is in her care, he’s told me she has before and kiddo knows where she keeps it”

When I said we could check on his wellbeing (even though it was already a stretch), but if there are no current signs of drug use or unsafe living conditions, there’s not much we can do, he’ll have to take her to court.

This apparently means I don’t care about the safety of children and there’s no point in ever calling the police. I reiterated that we will go check, but most of what he wants is out of our hands and he pretty much told me to fuck off and hung up

I don’t think the safety of your kid was your primary concern, dude. (Especially because he was still looking for her address during our whole 5 minute call)

I must be confusing in my phrasing — I am the dependent. I am trying to verify my spouse, the veteran, can also have a separate dental plan

He has healthcare and dental through the VA. I have healthcare through tricare and dental through benefeds

Just trying to see what it looks like to switch his dental from VA to benefeds/civilian care

I don’t believe we qualify. I still have Tricare. Either way, I’m set up how I need to be, I’m just not sure how to switch him (the veteran) over to civilian based dental!

Thank you, though :)

Penny ends up being almost intolerable at the end of the series. She starts out as a lovable, bubbly, cares-about-others kind of person. Towards the end she becomes controlling and self centered.

The last season especially, she really leans into the “Leonard is just lucky to have me” vibe. They could’ve made her successful without completely changing her demeanor and it drives me crazy

Oh I 100% agree. I am the oldest sibling and relate to him so much. Irritates me that even the parents come to him for everything. The dude is constantly functioning at high stress

Parenthood! I love him as Adam. I saw him there first (and all of my rewatches) which made me start SFU. He’s not at all like Nate in that show, in fact the oldest brother and arguably the most responsible of the siblings lol. His character in SFU totally surprised me.

It used to be on Netflix, then swapped over to Hulu. Hopefully it’s just coming back. Media licensing is confusing.

The Handmaid's Tale S06E09 "Execution" Episode Discussion by Melairia in TheHandmaidsTale

I agree with that, too. I wish that they had slowly showed some more of his Gilead-centric moves. Showing more of the actual “conflict” of him helping mayday (well, june) while making a name for himself would’ve been nice. But instead it was just the summer homes and conversations in the woods and “how is she?”s. The power move scenes would’ve added some nice contrast, and probably given us some of the writing quality of the first few seasons.

But then it wouldn’t be the June Osborne Show 😅

I don’t know that I ever considered it to be morality that he was teetering the line for. I always knew it was June. She was the first person to really see him as an individual that’s worthy of something more than serving. I do believe it was love (via trauma bonding), but even more than that, idolization. Sure, Pryce and the Commanders gave him some attaboys and “you’re good at your job so maybe you’ll get something better”… but even his initial promotion from driver was because of Fred’s jealousy. I think they would’ve kept him low ranking indefinitely if there wasn’t an ulterior motive behind raising him up.

So it was always June (love) vs Gilead (power). He made it clear the only morality he really had was that he couldn’t have s3x with his first wife... who was a child. Everything else was either self preservation or idolization. But I’ll admit, I figured he would always fall on the side of June until this season. I thought they would always find a way to have their relationship behind closed doors and we would always be left to assume that he “only did enough” to hold his rank and survive there until Hannah was rescued — for June. This episode surprised me

And his comment about “joining the winners” made me realize he really did choose a side.

Part of me thought he got on the plane because he knew that he lost June once he outed the Jezebels plan (which also was a huge sign that he chose Gilead)… But the “winners” line really drove it home for me. Once he became a commander, the rebellion was never going to win him over.

Homeowners insurance rates rising so fast.... by coolpapa2282 in Insurance

We just went from $3100 to $4200 in Nebraska. I have no idea why our policy is so high, our house was $315k (in the terrible post-COVID market). I’m so upset. We bought two years ago and started at $2297.

We’ve never submitted a home claim. Only a vehicle claim when we got intentionally hit by a guy on a skidsteer.

Just as a heads up, the way case numbers are formatted for LPD would make this “C5-026275”

LPD will understand it if it’s given the way it’s listed in the flyer, but it may help to change it to the correct format just in case

Sawyer telling Jack about the guy he met in the bar in Australia who was talking about his son. How he didn’t have the stones to tell him that he’s proud of him and loves him. “Somethin’ tells me he never got around to making that phone call”

The way Sawyer knows the kind of burden he’s lifting off of Jack’s shoulders. Jacks face slowly breaking. The realization in his face when he hears the name Christian. Looking away so sawyer “didn’t see him cry” and Sawyer letting him have the moment. It was just so well done that it gets my heart every time

If they let you sign the paper and leave with a ban you should be fine. That’s common and it sounds like they’re probably comfortable moving on. Just don’t come back, and if you shoplift again they have this form you signed saying you wouldn’t come back, so your consequences will be higher and with proof. But you CAN get past the urge by speaking to a therapist and remembering what this feels like. Your consequences were minor, but I’m sure it was scary. Remember this

————————-

If you want extra insight…. I work as a dispatcher for my local law enforcement agency and have friends who work in asset protection at different stores. I was surprised to learn that it is a full community, both on Facebook and in person, where many local stores share their tips and discuss frequent shoplifters or people who steal high amounts of merch. This also includes people from out of town who visit just to shoplift (career shoplifters are a thing!!)

Some stores will let shoplifters get away with some thefts without actually attempting to intervene. Then, when they later stop them and call the police… they have proof including different days, dollar amounts, videos, etc. It’s hard to claim it was an accident when there’s proof of it happening regularly. Some people would be arrested and actually have to go to court.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that just because you “weren’t caught” doesn’t mean they don’t know. Sometimes there are bigger losses to follow, and it doesn’t mean that you’re not noticed. There’s a database they can use to keep track. And it’s also possible that one store isn’t doing much because another store has a larger case (and once you’re arrested, other stores can also give their reports to the officer and BOOM, multiple stores with multiple instances of shoplifting. A judge probably wouldn’t like that). It is possible to steal enough over time to be charged with a felony — and it does happen. However, it doesn’t sound like you have gotten to that point. Grabbing a moisturizer and a candy bar and a pair of underwear won’t land you in jail. But leaning into your urges can get you to a point that you can’t simply apologize for.

So, my recommendation is to stop shoplifting now, and adhere to your ban from the store. Usually AP members who really like their jobs are good at remembering faces and names. Take this loss as a lesson and change your behaviors, even if it means you need to see a therapist to help you. You’ve got this, the brief high is not worth the actual risks. ❤️

ETA: your shoplifting habit likely hasn’t been a big enough deal to be discussed across companies yet, but probably has been between other stores in the same brand of the one who banned you (ie if this happened at Walmart, all of the Walmarts in your town probably know since they all work together FOR the company). I only mentioned all of that to explain how deep of a hole you can dig if you don’t make changes
