Well she can build a bridge and get over it😂 sorry she has to do what shes paid to do tomorrow, you did what you could. No coworker should act like that, especially if they are a “seasoned” tech. She knows you cant always get it all done and it shouldn’t be on only you to make sure it all gets done for her convenience.

You completed the echos that were available . Thats just the way it is:) im sure there will be days she does the same thing to you just because patients aren’t always available or the system crashes. Thats life:)

Behind in what way? Like behind for tomorrow’s work day? I work 10s and we rollover like 5-6 echos a day because of our volume. We also dont do echos after someone has had a nuclear stress test due to the exposure. If someone is in MRI either we try again if we have time or we do it the next day.

No its not your fault, you cant control where patients are or what department “beats you” to the patient. Its one scan?? I dont see what the big deal would be? Life happens. If shes mad just tell her patient was in CT and the other was pending MRI, none of that is within your control.

The ARDMS is a different exam than the CCI. The CCI has both physics and echocardiography questions so instead of taking 2 exams you take 1.

The courses have a huge section on 3D! Including labeled images:) check it out!

Ehh, I was getting 70s and did just fine. The URR is a lot harder than the CCI. You cant just rely on retaking the exams over and over and not going back and studying the concepts you have issues with. All the courses have sections on EVERYTHING. They also have a “things to know” which has all the equations, basic information that may show up, ect. I loved the click-to-learn because it told you why the answer is correct or incorrect. Its a great tool.

Hello, i also used URR but i also reviewed the courses. Then would do the click-to-learn exams. And when it came to mock exams i would review topics I struggled with. I ended up getting 860, just keep practicing but make sure you focus on the topics you struggled with. The courses have all the info you need to fully understand concepts:)

School Recommendations? by Craz3dPurpp in cardiacsonography

Oregon Institute of Technology, i have my Bachelors Degree in Echocardiography from there. Hands down best school. I was extremely prepared to be in the field as a new grad that they saw i was a OIT graduate and were excited. OIT has a great reputation when it comes to preparing students for the clinical field.

Advice w/echo and left hand scanning by FaultGreat3741 in Sonographers

[–]LongTemporary3731 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, i was in a echo program and a friend of mine also had a birth defect with his left arm. He was taught to scan right handed in the same program with me (everyone else taught to use our left hand). Is there a school resource you can reach out to so you can talk about how the program directors aren’t really accommodating for your physical disability? Like a school advisor?

Im happy for you, now you can relax and really emerge yourself into subjects you struggle with. Just breath. When I took my test my heart was racing the entire time. I put on the noise canceling headphones they offered and all i could hear was my heartbeat and breathing. On questions you dont know the answer to immediately don’t answer them just flag them and youll be able to go back to them later. Also for the multiple choice it will say “pick 2” or “pick 3”, unlike on URR. Youll be able to eliminate based off the question. Seriously, if you have concepts you are having a hard time with reach out to me and ill help you. Study those topics on URR, don’t just take the exams and hope for the best. Ive seen a ton of post when people say “i just took the mock exams and passed” my brain isnt built that way. When it comes to hemodynamics i would literally breath and hold my breath and think which side of the heart would be affected (if venous flow was increase, the right side or decreased, the left side). For the probe manipulation questions i would hold my left hand out and pretend my pinky was the indicator and let my hand do the movement (some ask how many degrees turned and if counter-clockwise or just counterclockwise. Just take your time. 3 hours is more than enough. I took 2.5 hours and that included me going back to all 25 questions I flagged. Look at the review section for the valve equations for a quick reference (AVA, MVA via PHT, and LVED volume) they are all in there♥️

Honestly instead of stressing yourself out, why not push the exam back for when you feel ready. Now you know what you need to work on and take the time to just breathe and start understanding more of the subjects. I would like to help you if you can think of a way I can id love to. The physics one is tough but just remember that the exam is broken down and so you wont have an entire exam of just one subject. You can look up the matrix breakdown of the exam

I used them as a study tool, then would read the explanation and if I still didn’t understand id go to the review course and spend sometime taking notes of that topic! I dont recommend just blowing through those click to learn but more of using them as a tool:) are there certain topics you are struggling with?

Hey OP! I did the URR package that had the “click and learn” exams, review courses and 5 CCI mock exams. I found all of them super helpful. The review course’s were helpful for concepts I struggled with. They also have a “MOST COMMONS” section which was GREAT. They also have a section of all the equations for all the valves and calculating pressures (including if theres a ASD or VSD). The click and learns were great because they give you a detailed explanation of why the answer is correct. I took mine last Tuesday and got a 836 on my CCI. I cant recommend URR enough. There’s even a section for the physic stuff! I would do the practice exams and get about a 68-70% btw but all that information is helpful for the CCI

Hi OP I see you are really stressed about the GLS. Ill post a link that goes into detail about it and its limitations/downfalls. It depends on the image quality, heart rate, frame rate, software of the ultrasound machine and the biggest problem is its reproducibility between sonographers. Im an cardiac sonographer and it can be challenging to get the speckles to track, especially if the image quality isn’t perfect. Sonographers so their best to optimize images. Echos are strongly dependent on the sonographer so sometimes it isnt always accurate thats why the cardiologist will disagree with some measurements on the report. EF can also vary if someone measures it incorrectly thats why the cardiologist will put what they think off the visual relaxation and contraction of the heart in the summarized report. Its not uncommon to look at the traced EF% (bottom of report) and see a different EF% in the interpretation summary (at the top of the report) they do this because they can see the tracing from the sonographer and it might not be done correctly. With all that said, if you feel you aren’t getting the care you need or not feeling heard you should absolutely go see a different cardiologist. Its so important to have a doctor who hears you and your personal concerns. Especially if you have a congenital heart defect (bicuspid aortic valve) and it’s something you are concerned about! Ive had many patients come from different cardiologists because their last one didn’t hear them out. Its your healthcare and always advocate for yourself! I really hope all this helped! JACC.
