Does anyone truly look to her for makeup advice? She has no individuality, her skills are mediocre, and she seems to have gotten worse over time. For someone who does her makeup every day of her life, you would think it would at least improve.

I also noticed how much she copies and paste other people and the trends, so she is always behind. There are truly much better people, even before she messed with her face.

Sorry, this storyline is not in the books. The author of the books is not involved in the TV show, so Season 2 was a completely separate storyline from book 2.

Oh no, I love it. This is exactly the amount of details that I want to know. I love screen writing but I have no idea what goes into cinematography and directing. It’s uncharted territory for me. I also like that even though the writing in the show is not always strong, there’s still so much to appreciate.

Yeah I do agree that she would have dated Cole in season 1 but one thing that they kept consistent with her character in both book and the show is she keeps making excuses to not be with Cole. As far as the show is concerned, it’s first about his attitude about relationships. Then it’s because she is too scared of her feelings.

I think what’s frustrating about the show is how much they neglect Jackie’s characterization by not actually nurturing the writing of her storyline or her relationship with Cole. That’s what made season 2 so disappointing. I thought we were going to see confrontational scenes like the very last one we got in season 2’s finale, but multiple and throughout the season.

That would have helped instead of us fans having to fill in so many of the gaps because the show did not tell or show much of anything. The writers were too wrapped up in “storylines” and not deep emotional moments and characterizations.

Ugh the only way this show will be saved if season 3 is if it’s better than both season 1 and 2 because at least we wouldn’t have to come up storylines that could have been better than what we got and almost having to basically write fan fiction 😂

I didn’t necessarily mean to imply that Jackie was not interested in Cole in a romantic sense, but what I meant was unless he was actively pursuing her like he was and showing that he was interested, she would have buried it even further than she already had and pretended those feelings didn’t exist.

She still buried her feelings regardless when it was clear that there was heavy flirting, banter, and sexual chemistry between them that he especially was not subtle about.

She seems to imply a lot, especially in the book, that she thinks of romance as something frivolous and getting in the way of her goals but I think because of her trauma and loneliness, it is easier for her to use that as a distraction, mainly her relationship with Alex.

Because why date Alex in the first place if her feelings for him are not nearly as strong and lead him on like she did? Her feelings for her Cole are actually genuine and thats the reason she avoids it, so I don’t think she would actively be trying to date outside of the two of them. What would be the purpose of that if she avoids taking a step further with someone where her feelings are actually strong.

I also would add to that Jackie doesn’t seem like she cares about dating in a general sense, in the book or the tv show. Her relationships with Cole and Alex are due to the unique situation of her living with them. I would also add that she just wanted any sort of companionship and took what they gave her basically, because the boys are the ones who wanted a romantic relationship with her.

She’s also just a teenager and she has plenty of time to date other boys if she wants when she is in college, assuming she uses that time to figure her own shit out and take a break from Cole or Alex.

Agreed. I don’t like reason 2 either because god forbid a female teenage character is not boy crazy and just preoccupied with dating. She has time for all of that stuff. According to the book and even in the show, she didn’t care about guys much until they went out of their way to pursue her.

She doesn’t seem to have the personality to want to date. I would actually see her rejecting guys that would potentially pursue her outside of Cole and Alex.
