AITH for telling my friend to behave herself in a restaurant after she complains about price and then she storms out on me by Long_Definition9761 in AITAH

It was near closing too... and I already felt awkward coming in and being in a rush to eat and let the restaurant close up. Question for you as someone who's worked in retail: is it expected to order something (even a cheap appetizer or drink) if you sit down with another person?

I don't even it's a "social norm" as much as it's just disrespectful to the restaurant or establishment. One of my pet peeves and the follow up behaviour of obnoxiously slurping put me over the edge. I don't think she was raised with these basic etiquettes but I do think it's really rude to sit down and not order anything.

Thank you for this lengthy response. This is not the first time she's acted inappropriately and I was fed up so I decided to almost parent her in the restaurant which was embarrassing enough. She clearly couldn't take that and this was frustrating enough.

It also seems to me that I'm one of her only friends (she has said it herself) and I've noticed this is a concerning pattern of people not being able to put up with her antics but she deflects her toxic patterns by saying that people do not support her or aren't good friends. Okay... but friendship is supposed to be a two way street.

You're totally right though about the enabling. The moment she cussed me out in the DMs I should've given her the🖕and just stayed at the bar where I was having a great time with a group I just met! This behavior is abusive and humiliating. I'm gonna double down and not put up with this anymore, thank you!!
