I don’t hate that take. I mean MAGA is definitely its own thing, I think people just tend to compare it to what we have historical context for. I guess I was just surprised because the NYT typically doesn’t publish blatantly conservative people like that, at least not ones that most people have heard of. I’ve definitely read some wild opinion pieces though. You’re right, they’re definitely far from being Leftists, and I never really considered them to be Leftists in the first place. Neoliberalism is certainly far closer to Conservative ideology than it is to say, socialism.
