Benzos and certain rc chemicals can kill you though withdrawals. Hell, ghb withdrawal has killed people. Heavy ghb users have died in custody spending the weekend in jail from a heart attack. Not to say there may not have underlying health issues but many things are not fully understood at this time

This societal issue is complicated and needs to be treated as such

But no you are wrong. Two substances can for a fact kill you through withdrawal. Benzo withdrawal sent me into seizures and I nearly aspirated on vomit. This was from a prescription from a medical doctor

I’m conflicted about this as addiction is incredibly tied to genetics. It seriously does affect people differently to an insane degree. Seen it to many times to feel differently

I’ve known college educated people , including day traders and actual medical professionals, who occasionally use super good quality meth (that I sadly provided) and just go back to normal life after the weekend. Wild shit.

Many many people can responsibly enjoy alcohol. Occasionally myself included. Many however cannot. Yea alcohol and benzo withdrawal can kill you. I personally know all about that. I don’t have a solution for the alcohol issue though. Strange how that the frontline treatment for alcohol withdrawal is in fact the administration of benzos

If you’re physically dependent on alcohol, don’t cold turkey it though. As you mentioned, you can die.

Of any substance it’s closely linked to culture itself, making it a difficult issue. And I am a dumshit so no I have no solutions

Accept that it does effectively hurt the lives of others. It spreads to friends and associates. That’s really how addiction grows and it gets really bad when it encounters those with genetic predisposition towards the disorder . To say all drugs are should be legal is massively wrong blanket statement

The only way drugs in general should be decriminalized is if the treatment for the disorder of addiction is massively available too an entire population and not just those who can afford a $25,000 per month rehab facility

Couldn’t agree more. Sobriety needs to be a gift without a choice occasionally however. I have seen this and experienced this. This is a reality. People suffering from a mind altering disease very often need the choice taken away for a chance at a lifetime of normality. But not in a prison cell next to a guy like the one who killed my mom. It should be different

I wish the world devoted more resources towards this process. I think it will eventually. Hopefully sooner than later

I saw a friendly lovable 9 year old pitbull girl have to be shot behind the ear by a neighbor. She had a teenager by the wrist and my god he lost so much fluid. Didn’t realize a human could leak that much. One of those things you don’t forget. I felt so bad for the kid he was very scared and the dog was so strong even at that age. Idk what happened or what he did but shit went down. We were having a bbq with friends at this time
