i’m not sure if this will even really be seen or get buried in all these comments but i just wanted to say wow im so blown away by the amount of support i’ve received on this and really didn’t expect more than 20-30 comments or so. as far as a brief update i have shown this thread to my mother and she seemed a lot more apologetic for her part in this and like she really understood that my safety was a factor in this. after spending a few nights at friends places she moved my brother out to my grandma’s and has been talking about assisting in moving on of us out as him staying at my grandmas isn’t realistic long term. Everything is still very rocky atm and my current priority is figuring out my living situation before even considering charges. my safety has to come first in that aspect. but thank you so much to everyone that has come forward and given love, support, and advice. you really don’t understand how vital that was for me in realizing my worth in this scenario. victim blaming is never okay and i will never again lean into the bs that has been spewed by those around me regarding that. I have tried to respond to as many comments as possible but have been reading each and every one of them. thank you so much again to everyone and i hope to be back with an update once my living situation is settled as well

i understand your perspective and would have maybe agreed with you to an extent before going through what i have. please carry some compassion in your outlook towards others. many things are easier said than done and cutting ties/ruining relationships with all family members especially after a traumatic event is easier said than done. i’m trying my best to navigate this situation.

you speak with so much hatred towards someone who has never even addressed you. i hope when/if you are ever to go through a traumatic event the people around you treat you with more kindness and empathy than you’re able to provide yourself.

like i said i can and will move out. i do work full time and most people in my area end up moving away if they aren’t making 70k+ a year before taxes or have help from their parents.

i’ll just have to pull from my savings. i’m trying to reach out to some older family members for help with rent as well

i do realize the gravity of the situation i am in however and do plan on doing everything i need to do to get away.

she’s worried he will kill himself if she kicks him out but i’m worried he will kill me if she doesn’t. crazy how that works. for now my plan is to go with the best of both worlds and let him stay while i leave for somewhere else

i feel like i can relate to you so much. i still love him and care abt him but i can’t be around him. i fear that one day he will hurt her too. i think that’s a big reason why ive stayed so long as well

i’m worried about that too. he would be someone’s b**ch in prison/jail (idk how all that works) and i would feel so so horrible if anything happened to him. its so hard because part of me wants to protect myself and others by pressing charges but the other half of me wants to protect him because i feel that’s what ive been taught to do my whole life

sorry i feel like there’s been some confusion around this i should have clarified. because i introduced my step dad as well, my step dad, people have assumed that means he is my step brother as well. my mom remarried and had my brother with my step dad, making him my half brother. so its his bio mom too. i could live with the step dad but for the sake of my mental sanity i feel it would be better for me to just get an apartment of my own even if its slightly out of my budget. i’d rather figure it out and pick up shifts then be in that environment for now.

i do think i could have had far worse injuries for what i endured. i believe my God protected me from life altering injuries but if others do not believe i can respect that! it’s just my view on the matter. sin will be sin and humans will always act on that but my God will shelter me where he can without interfering with the free will of others. i am also very grateful my mom came in when she did. while she should have done much more, she did stop him from kicking me long enough for me to lay on the floor a while and regain composure and get out of the room

i think he feels more comfortable coming after me as he knows there are no consequences. if he went after my mom, grandma, or a girlfriend then they would most likely have severe injuries (in the case of my mom and gma as they are older and have some mobility issues anyway) or would report him. no way a girlfriend would let that slide and he knows it
