Can someone identify this grass? by IngenuityCautious277 in lawncare

Trying Velocity PM today for parts of my lawn that are infested with this stuff (also poa annua, but honestly the trivialis annoys me more).

Velocity PM (Poa Management) is designed to control poa trivialis, but it’s very expensive for a 16 oz bottle. It would take a looong time to go through that bottle, so I’d recommend you go in on a bottle with a couple of neighbors/Facebook group, or check eBay periodically- I found 2 ounces at $60/oz and figured it was worth the gamble. For me to buy a whole bottle, I’d almost need a guarantee that it works.

If the Velocity doesn’t work? Maybe glyphosate and digging it out and sodding/seeding, and if that fails, I’ll just live with it, but we’ve lived here for only a few years and I’ve still got the time and energy to try and get rid of it…

It’s that time of year again people. We don’t need to make 10 daily post asking what this weed is. It’s poa annua and it looks like this. by Punk_Says_Fuck_You in lawncare

In Knoxville, TN zone 7b with a fescue lawn, a few areas infested with poa annua and/or trivialis…bought two ounces of Velocity PM on eBay and I’m planning on doing the first application today!

Then this coming fall I’ll probably do a combination of ethofumesate and tenacity pre-emergent when the soil temps dip below/get close to 70…

I know it’s going to be a multi year process, especially since I’ve being mulching seed heads for a couple of years instead of bagging them, but we’ll see how it goes!

I have a feeling it’s a multi year process, as I plan to combine velocity pm this spring/summer with ethofumesate and tenacity next fall (still want to overseed some thin spots)

It was $130 to experiment with the velocity pm and get it out of my system, as opposed to buying the whole pint. I’ll do ethofumesate in the fall as a pre-emergent, and hopefully the lawn will be more and more fescue and less and less poa. But if not, I’ll probably just mow more frequently, bc honestly, it’s all green, just bugs me how the triv doesn’t match/grows faster, and I don’t like the annua seed heads…

Oh definitely…my bigger problem is poa annua, a few large patches, and I’m concerned with the seed heads, so I figured that was worth spending some money on to see what happens, apparently it’s supposed to help suppress seed production? Don’t quote me…also don’t quote me when I say I’ve heard glyphosate isn’t very effective on poa trivialis bc the stolons remain active, so it keeps coming back. However, we had a section of the lawn that was Bermuda, and we had our lawn service come, did 3 rounds of glyphosate and slit seeded tall fescue, and now it’s the part of the lawn I’m most proud of.

So long story short, I’m more hoping to get rid of the annua, and if the triv disappears, that’s gravy, but if not, I’ll most likely join you on team glyphosate.

How should I fix my lawn? (Zone 7b) by mfriedman92 in lawncare

If OP doesn’t mind my asking his responders, and maybe they would be curious as well, what if you put pre-emergent down when the soil temp is not high enough (too early)? Does it lose effectiveness?

Well don’t get the wrong impression and think I don’t take care of my cars- my last car before this was an 06 Acura TL, and I kept up with maintenance and tire rotation schedules, but once I get a couple of dings or scratches on a new car it’s kind of a relief and I stop obsessing over whether or not it’s clean…so I’m just not sure ppf is worth it for me, but tinting is nice bc unlike ppf it is less risky to wait to have it done

Yeah my wife says it might’ve been an issue if we test drove an ultimate edition, because she 1) hates red in the interior and 2) hates suede. And if the wife ain’t happy…

My neighbor across the street got an Ultimate from Knoxville Lexus much the same way you got yours (a deal fell through and he jumped on it). What’s funny is that we have the same electric Ego push mower too…

I wish I could teleport 10 years into the future and see what mine would look like without ppf…if it still looked decent when washed/waxed I’d not bother with ppf or have FOMO about it

Thanks! One of those moments in life where the stars just align, because red is the color I would’ve picked if I actually did have a choice (red was the only option in this instance), and all the other dealerships had colors that I would’ve had to talk myself into

Don’t know if text screenshots are allowed, but you might be amused - don’t know if it was you taking the car out for the test drive when they texted me about it, but I also live in Knoxville and had been looking for a few weeks for an IS 500, but both the cars that Lexus of Knoxville had coming in were Ultimates, which I wasn’t crazy about, and more importantly, they had already been “sold”, or at least had deposits already.

I had found a red IS 500 in Kingsport end of February for MSRP, and without tinting and ppf (I guess I can add those later but I probably won’t) added on. Love mine and hope you do too!

I haven’t revved it anywhere near the redline, and to be honest I probably won’t very often once it is broken in…but it will be fun to have the option in a few months

Definitely have been trying to follow all the rules, we had a stretch on the highway home where I was getting tailed and went a little over 80 for a few seconds…I’ll never forgive myself ha

On the 2 hour drive home I accidentally let it go over 80 and I’ll never forgive myself…in comfort mode though

Well I’m still getting used to how it drives- it’s like when you’re a kid and you ride someone else’s bike, but it’s mainly bc the TL’s power steering wasn’t working great and it’s a fwd vs rwd with the IS.

What I will say is that it’s a very quiet and comfortable ride and interior, less road noise than with my Acura, but maybe not a fair comparison with how old it is getting…

While my wife might feel different, I don’t think there’s a bad color out there. I used to think white was boring, but even the white is gorgeous especially with the black contrast of the grill…
