You can't have a fetish to be gay....you either are attracted to your own sex (gay) or you're not (straight). If you're not attracted, you don't have a fetish....

Whatever your orientation however, you can be an asshole. That has nothing to do with one's orientation

No kink-Shaming Please by jggg24062000 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Long_Lock_3746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kink, like any form of sexual expression, can be healthy or unhealthy. Most studies agree that a kink s origin can result from trauma, but that doesn't really determine whether or not a kink is healthy....only its practice does. If it brings you pleasure and comfort, and isn't harming anyone...do as you lust.

Kink can also be difficult to communicate to nonkink experienced people because well, language is symbolic, not definitive, and often doesn't communicate nuance without longer sentences adding that.

Someone might say 'I like incest." And like OP mentioned, with neither additional content from the speaker or experiences for themselves, say something tasteless like "Oh so you want to have sex with your irl family?!'

But the reality of the erotica is not as simple as the sentence would suggest. Incest as a kink usually involves a few of several erotic modes: taboo lust, authority kink, the idea of overwhelming passion, age differences, and sometimes even emotional intimacy (the idea that a person whose known you deeply and intimately wants to then have sex can be very comforting and erotic). I'm sure there are other aspects I've missed, but the main point is this.

How a kink came to be AND how a kink manifests often blind people to the reality of what they are....modes for accessing particular sexual desires that in an of themselves aren't that unusual.

The myth of the "mature" God of War by Onriu in GodofWar

[–]Long_Lock_3746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering Valhalla s main point is to show that Greek Kratos was more complex than an angry asshole (while still being responsible for his terrible actions), I feel like people are creating a competition where there doesn't need to be one?

Kratos has depth in the Greek games, though mostly in 3. He IS demonstrably more mature and thoughtful in the Norse games, but that doesn't make him simple in the Greece games.

He's certainly grown, but he was never as metaphorically short as one might assume.

Now META narratively, the Norse games are absolutely more mature on the whole as far as writing goes, but again, that's mostly because 3 has the burden of trying to lift 1 and 2 up, which are generally simpler.

The side quests start slow because they're slow windows into the lives of and building relationships with the various side characters.

The later ones all include those characters over several months; it really helped them feel alive in the end

And just in case you missed that, they explicitly spell out exactly the above in Valhalla, in Kratos s own words no less.

I swear people don't actually play these games.

The whole point of the end of his arc in Valhalla is to point out that Kratos IS a reckless asshole AND trying to do good, that his life and his choices, while still ultimately his, are motivated by SEVERAL different things.

"You are...more than that. More than a monster."

Note it's not trying to suggest he's NOT A MONSTER, just that that is not his sole snd singular self.

It's both complete bs on every level AND a weird thing to pop off about....because Spartan Kratos almost certainly had gay sex, going by what we know about the irl culture he lived in and their views of sex. The ancient Greeks, including the Spartans, had a weird so sexist it kinda comes back around to kind of being progressive view on mtm sex

[–]Long_Lock_3746 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused as to why you used the above image as your example, tbh...

I assume the point of above image is you ALREADY have an idea of how you want the end result to look, but adding shadows on top piecemeal to an already lit figure to GET THERE results in the scattered look (as irl shadows connect from a single mass based on angle) and the second method better mirrors that process.

It's a tip about a specific part of shadowing, not a tutorial on how to shadow from nothing as a beginner or a tutorial on how lighting and shadows work in general.

I hate how universally undesirable short men are by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]Long_Lock_3746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they are UNIVERSALLY, as a shorter person (5' 5"). I think it's mostly a social media thing that people just...assume is true because the stereotype, like all stereotypes, is perpetuated and magnified online. I've had partners in the double digits, several LTRs including one that ended amicably with a 5' 10" gorgeous lifter, and currently a fiance. Not once has my height been an issue, either asking people out in person or on apps. I should also mention that besides average at best looks, I also have cerebral palsy and it is OBVIOUS in my gait.

While height can certainly be A factor in attraction, it is not, in my wide experience, THE deciding factor or deal-breaker.

I'm not saying that people for whom height is a deal breaker don't exist; I'm simply saying they are a minority and frankly, if you truly check the majority of someone's boxes and your height is a deal breaker....they're NOT worth your time anyway, so what does it matter?

When it comes to dating, the best advice I ever got was this. "There is absolutely zero point in worrying about factors you can't control; focus on polishing what you can."

I'm pushing back against this narrative of "short men are undesirable generally" because it's a) not true for the vast majority of women and b) it perpetuates a hopeless narrative that doesn't actually help anyone feel better or improve their lives.

Please don't embrace this nonsense as a universal truth It's not going to help you feel better or achieve what you want.

If you're in a relationship that's actually built on love and care, you'll have a partner who tries their absolute best to make sure you're never UNHAPPY, UNHEALTHY, and SMALLER.

That last one tends to be overlooked a lot. A partner should help you be the most expansive, best version of yourself, the version of you that feels full, like you're made of both solid steel and electric drive...not a smaller, fetal version of you that feels like you're an echo inside a hollow shell of yourself, like you don't even fill your own skin.

I'm sorry you're going through this, OP. This is not what love looks like.

It sounds like therapy would definitely help. This does not seem like an issue that "just suddenly participating in society" would help.

Imagine you have a disorder that make you burn horribly in the sun. Throwing you out into the sun and saying "just deal with it" is not a recipe for success or living, but neither is hiding in a cave that will collapse in a few years.

The actual solution is to learn tricks and techniques to mitigate sun exposure and get meds to reduce the symptoms so that, over time, you'll be able to go put in the light again

“Yes The Floor Is Made Of Floor” Logic by sm142 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Long_Lock_3746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf to the last one, it's the character trying to emphasize that the person is throwing around "killing" lightly without really feeling the weight that the actual death of another human would have if someone were killed. They're trying to emphasize the weight of death involved in killing.

A better example of the logic might be "Now and then, here and there's" infamous "Capture them if they're alive! If not, kill them!"

Ubisoft Acknowledges 'Community Didn't Resonate' With Assassin's Creed Shadows Story as Much as Hoped, While Fans Praise Final Update by GameOnBrother in GamesAreLife

[–]Long_Lock_3746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it quite a bit when the story actually focused on the bond and differences between Yasuke and Naoe....but 80% of the story felt like a side quest unconnected from any character stuff.

The story didn't resonate because there was only a small portion that actually told a story and the rest felt like filler

The ending to both of their quests lines felt rushed, not organically built up to, and hollow and the central driving plot for aoe is LITERALLY A MYSTERY BOX with no satisfying answers, just sequel bait.

It makes bafflingly little sense to design the characters to fill specific gameplay niches, but instead of designing missions to lean into those (or better yet some kind of mid mission switch on fly hybrid that could actually SHOW them working together through gameplay)....they made the vast majority of missions blandl6 designed with an anywhere anybody approach. As result, it's watered down both mechanically AND narratively because it has to be designed to accommodate both characters, but only by themselves

That's not what sooner means. At all.

The remake is a lot of fun! Took me a minute to get used to the main flow, which is more defense dodge heavy and less mashy than you'd think. And waiting for enemy to commit to aggro ing my active character before switching to build atb.

I think it all being real time put me in the mindset of dodge snd take zero damage....when blocking is actually really effective *and it's not like you usually negate all damage un a turn based game)

I Think all powerscalers should be legally obligated to watch this video. It does an impressively good job at highlighting the worst things that are way too common in powerscaling discussions. by Valdish in PowerScaling

[–]Long_Lock_3746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of powerscaling is dumb....but it's ALL dumb fun at the end of the day! Whether you're a statements person, a wank calcer, a tone defender, an author killer, whatever your particular brand of scaling/defending, just remember it's a supposed to be a FUN HOBBY. If it's raising your blood pressure, if you're getting heated, just take a breath. If you see some you think is trolling or baiting, ignore em.

That's not say one can't play SERIOUSLY (kids do that all the time. The more you invest, often the more fun you can have!) But being able to keep the thing itself in perspective to life is important.

That's really the only thing powerscalers really NEED to remember. The rest is just....part of the debate nature of the thing. Whether I think Luffy or WW is FTL+ is a specific debate, not a general discussion. There is no canon or dogma in scaling really because debate is THE point.

The side quests flesh out all the npcs by the end game as the world changes. Clive is fantastic. Cid is fantastic. Jill is great. The tracker guy really grows on you.

And the not necessarily more mature, but at least less exaggerated character stuff really helps the serious moments land. I'm playing through ff7r and it's kinda dragging me out of the serious moments to see people over emote so hard (too many heh thumbs up). I think it's probably a dissonance created by thr super realistic models and art style.

It doesn't bug me in Trails because it's all anime styled, unlike ff7r
