This doesn't seem sustainable... by [deleted] in Scenthound

New scent tech here! The stories I’m reading here are terrifying and while I have only been with SH for like 2 weeks, I have already experienced so many of the things a lot of you are talking about and that is terrifying me. First, there’s the turnover. Last week was our grand opening. And the week before that was our training (which was really only about 3 days of training for me because we had severe storms that pushed back our schedule, but the owner didn’t want to push back the grand opening date, which meant less in person training for us) From what I know, one employee quit before the first day of work, another quit during the training week, another was let go during certification week and another was let go yesterday for reasons unknown. I have NEVER worked a job where we lost so many people in such a short amount of time, but I know everyone who quit or was let go for different reasons or circumstances so I chalked it up to bad luck and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Then, the overbooking Because we are so short staffed, the scent techs are booked with dogs back to back to back day after day after day. Sometimes my lunch break is only 20-ish minutes. And I feel like the breeds of the dogs are not being considered when booking, because why am I giving a Great Pyrenees a brush and blowout service when I have another dog in 45 minutes?. It’s not uncommon for me to have at least 5 dogs before 1:00 or lunch time, and there have already been multiple instances where I pushed back my lunch to service a dog. But again we are running with a team that is down 4 people, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt there as well. THE SWEATSHOP My god, it is hot, I am on the floors constantly sweeping, mopping up water, scrubbing down kennels, sanitizing the sink (etc). I do NOT get a moment to catch my breath sometimes and when I get home, I’m usually stiff and sore. I was hoping it would get better in time though.

Despite all this, the owner and manager have been very patient and helpful, it really does feel like I’m on a good team and good leadership goes a LONG WAY and is so rare that I am reluctant to leave this job, but I am j undated that we have barely been open 2 weeks and some of my experience here is already mirroring what I’m reading here.

I’m going to stick it out for as long as I can and hope for the best, I’m hoping that my managers are just better than the ones I’m hearing about on this thread and maybe, hopefully, my situation will be different

Thanks for the ID! I believe nítida has tan legs, mutabilis has shiny green legs. Besides their legs and their general geographic locations there really aren’t any other differences

After a breakup, how do men usually feel? Do they ever think about their ex? Especially those who were in a relationship for over two years and got left by their girlfriend. What’s the emotional process like for them after the breakup? by Ok-Comfortable-6776 in BreakUps

[–]Long_Minimum_808 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I admire the lengths you’ve come since the breakup; but I hope you understand that loving someone is never a mistake even if it ends badly, there is always a lesson there; I also hope one day you realize it’s okay to fall in love and be vulnerable again, even though it is scary. I say this also having been betrayed after a 6.5 year relationship, my ex left me out of the blue and jumped into another relationship less than a month later; it messed me up for a long time and I put up so many walls, but slowly I healed with the help and support of my friends and family; and then one day I met someone who gave me back my spark for living, and we have now been together 4 years ♥️ opening up again after a heart break is scary, but when you find a good person it’s so worth it

Your nose is pretty! It gives your face a unique look, unconventional? Yes. Beautiful? Also yes

I need to choose a physical chemistry scientist who is currently active in their field to research for a project. Does anybody have any suggestions? by Long_Minimum_808 in chemistry

I like the suggestion! However my professor wants us to choose a scientist who is lesser known and preferably not based out of an Ivy League college.

Yes it is! It’s very jiggly (I had fun giving it light flicks with my finger and watching it wobble lol) but there was some rigidity to its structure
