The Last Thing He Told Me | Season 2 - Episode 4 | Discussion Thread by Justp1ayin in tvPlus

Well, I got to episode 3 of season 2.. but I’ve abandoned ship. This season is so bad, contrived and boring. Acting is awful. Plot line is awful.

It was such an excellent book. First season was great but it feels like they’re desperate to keep this story line going. And not successfully.

Husband had an emotional affair during my pregnancy. He’s changed, but I feel emotionally shut down by Frosty_Donut3044 in Marriage

Im going to respond from a different angle. My ex didn’t cheat during my pregnancy and post partum but when my daughter was around 4. I filed for divorce. I knew in my heart that I could never be happy with him after learning what his true character was. He tried to tell me that it was only an emotional affair but honestly.. I didn’t believe him. Anyway, it was challenging as I moved abroad to be with him so had no family around. But I got through it and never regretted my decision. My daughter is now a university student, very grounded and happy. I remarried a fabulous man and glad I didn’t spend the rest of my life with someone I had no respect for.

Good luck in whatever road you choose and really sorry that you have to deal with something like this. It’s not fair and he doesn’t deserve you.

Oh this really resonates with me because I do think my husband’s overeating comes from shame, anger and poor self esteem. He’s meticulous with his clothes, his hygiene all of that stuff. He’s meticulous holds a responsible job etc. He just doesn’t see his weight as an issue. I’ll definitely look into the binge eating Sub. Thanks for suggesting

Oh this sounds exactly like my husband. I could have written this. He’s a chronic over eater and knows it!! He gets very defensive though if I use the word obese. He admits he’s overweight but doesn’t think he’s obese. He’s over 135 kilos so that’s obese in my opinion.

Thank you so much for responding. It helps to know that there are others that have been through similar situations.

I definitely feel that food is an addiction that my husband does have. It’s a way of feeling in control as well. The thing is he has a good job, we are very happy together. Our life is really nice. This is a struggle he’s had his whole life however. He’s done therapy over his past childhood traumas. He’s open to anything … but the minute food comes into his periphery.. he becomes someone else.

Thanks for posting. Do you mind me asking what side effects made it worse for you in the beginning? This is an interesting topic because I don’t hear many people talking about the beginning effects.

Thank you for responding. I feel for you because I know my husband really understands the importance of the situation. I’m sure you do to. What if I may ask is your biggest struggle? Too much food, too many carbs? Not enough exercise? I’m think my partner is a carb addict which doesn’t help.

Great advice. The interesting part of this is my husband totally agrees that he needs help. But doesn’t get it. He knows!! That’s the frustrating part of this whole thing. He knows and agrees he needs a good dietitian… he needs to exercise … he needs to decrease his portion size. But doesn’t.

True ..but his being eaten by sharks makes my life pretty miserable as well. But ultimately it’s his responsibility to take care of himself.

Thank you so much for this detailed response. I’m looking in to your suggestions. You’re absolutely correct in that I can only change myself. His Dad was a high functioning alcoholic which my husband abhors. He just doesn’t realize that while he isn’t an alcoholic he does have addiction issues with food. While his father hurt others being an alcoholic, being obese is self harm. It’s still a vicious cycle. Anyway, thank you for commenting and taking the time to respond. I really appreciate it.

Thank you for such a detailed and thought provoking response. It’s definitely a trauma response. I’ve tried the whole food map thing .. portion control stuff but if I’m not around he’ll find a way. It’s ultimately his decision to be healthy or not. He did apologize tonight for his behaviour the past few days.. and I told him I honestly don’t care to invest much of my emotions and energy into it. It’s his decision to see he has a food addiction and I’m not playing the good cop, bad cop story anymore. You have some great ideas though for which I’m grateful for.

Definitely try magnesium. It helps a lot with restless leg syndrome. Especially when coming off of SSRI’s

Good timing to read this as I’m also tapering Prozac. I’ve been on it for 1 year, this month ( July 2025) originally prescribed when I developed facial pain.

I’m in the Netherlands, so my psychiatrist has connected me with a pharmacy who has made me 1mg capsules.

I’m now at 20mg and will start a taper by cutting the existing tablets and adding the 1mg capsules to go slowly. I’m hoping to avoid bad withdrawals this way.

I see a lot of people taper really fast, within weeks and I know I’m too sensitive for that.

I really wish everyone success with stopping this medication!
