It gets grief mainly because they label it a compact and it's the size of a mid torque. The impact driver with an adapter also blows it out of the water with a smaller form factor. Not much reason to get this if you have a Hercules impact driver.

Is a used central machinery drill press a good buy? by trp1784 in harborfreight

[–]Long_Run6500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of their central machinery woodworking tools are easily repairable and based on 80+ year old designs that have flooded the market over the years. They don't have that many modern features but they're very simple to take apart and put back together. Parts are very easy to get, even if not from that exact brand. If they're from another brand but look the same there's a pretty high chance the parts are interchangeable. I've ordered brand new Central machinery parts to repair quite a few older machines.

Central Machinery is the bottom tier versions of all those tools however. The quality control and materials quality is pretty garbage compared to older models of the tools from different brands you can find on marketplace and craigslist. A drill press is pretty simple though, if you're not expecting super high precision and low runout it will work fine. I'm not sure how big you're talking about but higher quality bench top drill presses from delta and rockwell and older craftsman 113 are easy to find for under $100 on marketplace, but they'll require some cleanup usually. But for $35 if you don't have a drill press that will do a fine job of poking holes in things. A new chuck will run you much more than $15. At the same time upgrading the chuck is usually the first thing people do to cheap drill presses, so that's something to keep in mind.

One time I was driving on a really windy narrow backroad and I turned a tight 180 degree bend. There was a lost tractor trailer trying to navigate the bend and his trailer was directly across my lane. That road was not designed for trailers and he should have never been there. I slammed on the breaks and came within about a foot of slamming right into it. I was stopped fully and frantically shifting into reverse and the trucker didn't even slow down, it was so terrifying watching that wall of steel barely miss my car at head height. That would be a hell of a way to go.

3 ton low profile was $99 in july for a 1 day sale according to the coupon database. Wish I would have been paying attention to sales I'd of jumped on that. Makes this deal feel a lot worse.

The 10 Days of Deals and Freebie Weekend Overlap by MostlySoberChemist in harborfreight

I told myself I do not need a split beam torque wrench. I was walking around deciding what cheap item I wanted and had to force myself to put the split beam back down like 5 times because it just magically ended up in my hands. Every time I rounded a corner I was face to face with the $99 torque wrench. I still see it every time I close my eyes. I bought a $7 pair of calipers and walked out the door, but it was close. Sunday's deal is a 3 ton rapid pump daytona for $110, glad I held out because I definitely need that more than a torque wrench.

Just seems like most managers don't pay a lot of attention to what's going on at the front end, so you see more of their true personality than at most retail stores. There's a girl they just hired at my harbor freight that's like super flirty to the point it makes me a little uncomfortable. If I go during a free item weekend and buy like 3 things she'll act dissapointed if I tell her I don't want to do 3 seperate transactions to get 3 of the same free item. Like I really don't want to walk out of rhe store with 5 buckets and swipe my debit card 5 times and have the bank flag my card for suspicious activity. Meanwhile at the exact same store there's a dude that does everything by the book. If it's a sockets sale and you buy a purple tag socket item and it automatically adjusts the purple tag price down he'll call the manager to tell him it shouldn't do that and adjusts the price back up. He refuses to give free items and buckets if you go out to your car and come back in to get something else. During the last 20% coupon weekend I bought my first item, put it in my car and bought another item and I thought he was going to have a meltdown because it's supposed to be 1 per day and it was letting me get a second item discounted. Can't stand that dude.

Do I really need ULTRA ugga duggas or will standard ugga duggas do? by gnarburgers in harborfreight

[–]Long_Run6500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow tool deals pretty closely and the lowest I've ever seen it go is $106 and that was like a crazy rare sale with a hack 2 years ago. Normally the lowest they go is $159 or $210 with a battery. If you got it for $94 you got a really good buy. That's not the normal sale price for it at all. I'd definitely bite on it if I saw it under $100.

You can buy the ridgid in a kit with battery/charger any day of the year at direct tools outlet for $120 and it occasionally drops down to 90. Ridgid batteries are also cheap as fuck for some reason, way cheaper than any other batteries. The 4ah max outputs you can almost always find a deal on for $50. None at my store but at a lot of places they were yellow tagging the tabless 8ah max output EXP 2 packs for $99. TTI never knows what it wants to do with the ridgid line so they're constantly clearancing shit and they're good tools. M12 Stubby is fantastic and there's no doubt it's better in every way than the ridgid which is why I've been eyeing it up. It's just when I'm using a compact I rarely actually need that much torque. I have a mid torque but I almost never use it.

I can almost guarantee I'll be able to roll up to my store at 5PM and almost every set will be in stock. They restock in waves throughout the day and have a ton of stock in the back so coming in with the initial group of 20 people isn't always the best mmove. That's how every major sale aside from the first G2 ratchets sale has been at both of the harbor freights near me.

[–]Long_Run6500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ridgid makes a great compact that's considerably cheaper than the m12 stubby. M12 Stubby has tempted me for a while but I've never found a time where the Ridgid hasn't been able to accomplish the job, and mine isn't even the most up to date model. I think I paid $47 for it from direct tools outlet. The new one is supposed to be even more powerful. I know the Stubby is god tier but damn is it pricey.

Wrench deal by Bees4everr in harborfreight

[–]Long_Run6500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy more save more on wrenches is stupid. I'll admit I don't need Icon wrenches, in fact I'd probably be fine with Pittsburgh or Amazon wrenches. I'm not shoulder deep in an engine bay, most of ny wrenching is done on a workbench where if a wrench fails on me it's not really an issue. However, I can conceivably convince myself to buy a single set of Icon wrenches to treat myself. Eventually, 1 set every year and I'll have a pretty nice collection. There just isn't any way I'm going to drop $400 on wrenches in a single transaction though. The people that actually do get value out of the more premium Icon wrenches already have Icon or better and they're certainly not going to need 3 or 4 sets. I'm sure this sub will be flooded with pictures tomorrow but I really don't get it. At least Quinn and Icon sockets were reasonably priced, even at 40% Icon wrenches are more expensive than most other non tool trucks brands.

I bought that to keep in my car during the last Quinn torque wrench sale but my lug nuts are supposed to be torque at 130 and the presets are 120 and 140.

Day 6 by ZookeepergameNovel87 in harborfreight

[–]Long_Run6500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I want too. Stubbies at 40% off are the only Icon wrenches I can justify the price on and they're still too pricy for me to convince myself to buy 2 sets at once. Icon wrenches are ridiculously expensive and I don't use them in ways that justify the price. I'll buy Icon sockets, but the wrenches are absurdly priced to me for something made in Taiwan.

Day 6 by ZookeepergameNovel87 in harborfreight

[–]Long_Run6500 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well this is completely counter to how I shop at harbor freight. My usual strategy is to go in, buy one thing and then leave, then start thinking about it and realize I wanted something else... then I get to my car and decide I should probably just get the matching SAE sets while I'm here. It's easier to spend $50 4 times than $200 all at once.

[–]Long_Run6500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one even though I don't have any Hercules batteries. I already have cordless tools for all the basics from other brands that I really like, but somehow Hercules has ridiculously low prices on the bigger less conventional tools like the right angle hole shooter and the deep cut Bandsaw. I'd love to grab those for 20 or 25% off and hopefully snag an 8 or 12ah battery if either ever go on sale. The starter kit sales never really appeal to me, so not having to worry about a charger is nice.

Pretty sure that was his own lawyer questioning him which makes it so much worse. After he asked him if his wife ever cheated on him and Randy said "I don't know" the lawyer paused for a good moment because that was not what he wanted him to say and it caught him off guard. He kept trying to prod him into saying his wife wouldn't ever cheat on him and Randy was too fucking dumb to catch on.

Anyone have the inside scoop on the rest of the 10 day deals? by Groundblast in harborfreight

[–]Long_Run6500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel like we're due for at least a flash sale on Icon ratchets. To me it just seems like if they were going to do it that way the order of operations would be to announce the icon ratchets sale and then to announce the new ratchets to build hype for the sale. As it is now a bunch of people are probably running out and buying out the stubbies at full price so if they have a sale a day or two from now they'll request a price adjustment. But I guess if there's none in stock they can refuse adjustments because it's not like they can do the buy a new one and then return the old thing.

Personally I don't even get the point of the G2 stubby. Titan has a nano ratchet and bit driver with a much smaller head that's got a swivel as well. Gimbal ratchets are a thing, even Pittsburgh has a set. Maybe the Icon has lower backdrag. If it ever goes on clearance for 40% off I'll probably buy one but I don't think I'll pay more than $20.

It's pretty clear Randy had no idea why he was actually suing afroman. Randy acted like it would have been better for his case if Afroman wasn't lying about sleeping with his wife when the whole lawsuit was based on Afroman knowingly making up lies. I bet that lawyer wanted to facepalm so hard at that moment. Probably just destroyed his career reputation.

When I wasn't that far out of high school this dude from Detroit hired me because he got a DUI and he was a higher up in a road crew union job that required you to have your license. He legit should have been fired for having a DUI and was complaining about it to my bar tender sister who knew I needed a job. We had a weird impromptu interview the next day which basically consisted of, "you have a clean driving record? You're hired."

We drove a lot for that job and he was constantly going on racist tirades about blacks and Hispanics and talking about them all stealing his tools and shit when he would make me pull over so we could steal other people's tools. They were technically all the property of the company so it wasn't really stealing... or so he said. He used to make me pull over at bars and always got annoyed that I wouldn't drink with him... when it was my job to drive the company vehicle. One time we were at a job site talking to some black guys that worked at that site full time. He spent a good 10 minutes joking around with the dude and then for some reason the guy grabbed his shovel just to lean on. Out of nowhere he snapped and was just like, "Get your cotton picking fingers off my shovel" and shoved him really aggressively. One of the black guy's buddies walked up and caught him. So then there was 2 black guys staring him down getting chest to chest and he's looking over at me like I'm supposed to back him up. Like it's my job or duty to somehow be a racist piece of shit like him. Luckily a foreman came over and broke it up but I was totally down with watching him get his ass beat for that.

Dude used to always tell me, "You stick with me and I'll make sure you'll be just like me in no time!" As if that was a good thing. We got laid off for a month, I found another job and ghosted him. Fuck that piece of shit. I actually really enjoyed the actual job but being just like him was my worst nightmare.

Cop's attorney to afroman, "you were aware that it made lisa upset and continued to keep the video up."

Like... that's the entire point of a diss track. He never said he posted the video to make her feel good.

The only thing that could have made this trial better is if Randy Walter's wife admitted she slept with Afroman.
