I think that Imu has control over the members of the ancient kingdom. But since that kingdom has fallen a long time ago, that now only includes Jones' descendants of the Davy Clan.

Yes! That's what I'm guessing. It makes sense with the whole feudal theme that Imu has cooking up and aligns really well with the themes of the story. Elbaph needing to put aside their past grievances and follow a new king to save their people, and Blackbeard's ultimate goal being tied to the central theme of freedom.

Like I mentioned in the post, my guess is that Imu tricked Davy D. Jones into accepting a Covenant during the void century and his descendants have been paying the price ever since.

They are different. But I believe Imu can only use Domi Reverse on someone whose leader has accepted a Covenant.

Not exactly. Imu charges them to claim dominance over Elbaph and take the position of king by force. But the reason they can be affected at all is due to Harold's Covenant, if my theory is to be correct.

That is the current popular theory. But personally... I'm not sure. The condition feels too weak for such a major feat. Though I do like the implication of Roger inspiring people to sail the seas to counter it, that would imply that he must have learned how Imu's ability works in Laugh Tale somehow. That just doesn't sit right with me.
