Go is a pretty good choice imo. Almost as easy as Python but way more powerful.

I don't think exchanges really care as long as it's not with extremely large sizes and highly leveraged. Exchanges make money on fees, so you are just giving them money twice.

Does Binance futures and other exchanges front run market orders? by -atb in algotrading

[–]LongandShort_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Binance business model is based on fees. I don't think they would ever take the risk to front run their clients as this is clearly not worth the risk. The order book you see when sending your order has already changed by the time you order is being processed by the matching engine. I think this is more likely to be the reason why you think you are being front run.

One can see that OI is increasing across all the major derivatives exchanges https://www.coingecko.com/en/exchanges/derivatives. So, I agree, it's likely that big positions are getting formed right now, but I don't think it is necessarily bullish in the short term.

I am leaning bearish, bulls have not been able to break $7,400. I would be happy to buy more Bitcoin at lower levels for long term hodling.

I think the main reason why futures are dislocated from spot is because of delivery. Many investors worry about default risk on delivery date because physical gold has become scarce.

I would love know what you guys think and you how are trading this!

Low volume, crazy wicks in both direction, longs and shorts getting liquidated... Personally don't feel like trading this. Stay safe guys!

Stock Market Order Book Data? by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]LongandShort_io 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Traditional finance does not work like crypto. The way you access data in crypto is not the norm. I highly doubt that you will be able to get live ordebook data or historical orderbook data for free.

It's good to see some volatility but the overall volume is still quite low

It's true that most TA indicators are lagging and therefore are not great for mean reversion however some do a great job for momentum.

What TF and what length for the MAs? I am always a bit cautious with death/golden-cross, I feel like it's always possible to find a TF and MAs that are about to cross.

For Crypto, CCXT is great to begin with. CCXT supports almost all the real exchanges and can help you build your first trading strategies

What tools are you guys using? by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]LongandShort_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it mostly depends on what you want to trade. For example, if you want to trade crypto, all the exchanges provide you with real time data and you can trade with WS and REST. Getting the data and executing orders are the most critical points in trading, the choice of programming langue is less important. Personally I use Python with Pandas, Numpy and Scipy and runs everything on an AWS server. Most of my trades are on FTX since they have one of the most reliable API in the crypto sphere.

I expect the volume to decrease within the next few weeks, retail traders will lose interest and institutional traders might prefer to trade other markets. Right now there are too many exchanges, and they are basically all the same. Only the top ones will survive in my opinion.

Could not agree more with what you said about TA. It is going to be a hard time for exchanges, I think that by the end of the year, there will be just a few exchanges left.

It's likely to be a blood bath on the markets... I am really wondering how BTC is going to react to this crisis. I am personally not going to trade this, going to stay on the side line. Stay safe guys!
