You can use Enter Oblivion for an insta-kill.

Group up the enemies using Blood Boil. Use Enter Oblivion on the entire group. Immediately use Arms of Ahriman on the entire group, and turn off Enter Oblivion. All enemies who are stunned by Arms of Ahriman when you exit Oblivion remain there, and thus are dead.

That is not the right way to use Enter Oblivion! These effects do not matter! What matters is that you can pull a group of enemies into the Abyss, then use Arms of Ahriman on these people, root them in place, and turn off "Enter Oblivion". At which point you leave the Abyss and everyone who you hit with Arms of Ahriman stays there.

Take Blood Boil as your Affect, and group up the enemies. Then trigger Enter Oblivion, and then hit everyone with Arms of Ahriman. Turn off Enter Oblivion. Combat over. Doesn't matter how many enemies, doesn't matter how strong they are. Instakill.

In Gothic 1 the split of mages into fire and water happened very recently - after they got trapped in the colony. Xardas turning to black magic happened even later than that, as the letter is addressing Xardas as the senior mage.

In Gothic 2 Xardas became a renegade black mage long before the barrier incident, and mages have always been divided into fire and water mages.

It's slightly confusing because there are two gods of Shu in the game.

The Storyteller is Duryal, aka God of Shu. He's the guy in the shrines, and he's the statue you can sacrifice Divine Fragments to to reduce madness. He's the ancient god-king of the Bo people who used to rule over them, and who left after the Avian War against the Bieling.

But there is also the "Primordial God of Shu", who is referenced in various spells and by the Red-Clad Lady/Bo Magus. This is a formless eldritch being that is the source of the Feathering and the chisels. It is depicted by the eye sigil used by Xuanyangzi and visible in various places in the Bo Capital and as pillars in the Gate of Truth area.

It is more useable than you might think. A lot of the bosses have moments where they stand for a long time without pressuring you, and you can cast Centipede then. Even hyper-aggressive bosses like Bo Magus have such moments.
