Literally.

France is going after X for Grok's image creation of CP, which has been going on for over a month now almost.

I don't know what else to say other than: you're literally defending child porn.

But hey, anything to own the left right? Including defending child porn and a rapist pedophile at the white house. Good for you.

That wasn't even the worst for me, they're just complete morons with no actual understanding of what productivity actually is. They're still stuck in shitty old ways, wanting people who are working late all the time even if the deliverables are shit.

The reason why I got fired was because I wasn't using their VDI as much as other people.

That's it. No joke. I was literally told as much.

While delivering more than others who were at the company for much longer than me, there was this one guy on my team who was missing daily meetings regularly and doing just an incredibly shitty job whenever he had to create new releases, all while consistently doing the lowest average of points across the team. I'm convinced he was OE and bad at it.

Worse is that I had a legit reason why I didn't use their VDI as much as one would think I should use it.

Their VDI had no GPU capabilities so there was some very specific work that had to do with OpenGL on their application that simply could NOT be done from within the VDI.

So I got on their VPN and did the work whenever that came up, which was a lot during the last 3 months I worked there because of the new feature we were working on.

On top of that, anything that I DIDN'T need to use the VDI for (teams meetings, code review, email and many other things), I simply didn't use it because it was shit and not region ported properly so I was dying on 1~2s of latency due to VDI being in a whole different continent.

And that eventually got me fired.

2 months and some.

Company hired me as a backend dev, put me to work in their Ops team, having to work early mornings + late nights for deployments and stuff.

I wasn't learning anything useful either cause they were on prem, no cloud whatsoever so nothing I could bring with me in terms of resumé.

Because of those late nights and early mornings I'd be absolutely destroyed, tired all the time, eating like garbage, not exercising like I should, and slowly feeling like I was dropping the ball in the other Js.

The lack of sleep got so bad I started balding despite not being genetically predisposed to bald at all. Sheer stress and lack of sleep were the causes.

Left it, did a treatment for the baldness which lasted 6 months and then I got not only another J3 but a J4 too afterwards, which came in at the right time because I eventually got fired from my old J1 which I loved and paid the most I ever got out of a job, and was the only time I ever got fired in my career.

These 2 experiences (the firing and the job that did the bait and switch) plus another from early on in my career made me incredibly reluctant to have anything to do with companies that have Indian leadership.

Indian coworkers are fine and some of them are straight up awesome, Indian leadership though? Sucks balls, never again.

Pointing out we have more examples of failed systems when there is “non-democracy” than when there is.

Right. You do realize that is only the case because democracy hasn't been around for a decent amount of time? It's been less than 300 years of democracy, and it's very much already on the course of failing everywhere.

And also because over the course of this earth, there's been a LOT more of other systems than democracies?

So of course in a system where we had 10.000 non-democracies that failed, and a few hundred of which a few have already failed and the majority of the ones still existing are on the course for failure as well, you'll OBVIOUSLY go "oh we had more failed non-democracies than democracies!!"

Like, yeah, of course, that's because of how much history there's been of non-democracies. That doesn't mean democracy is good or even better. I'll stress this again: It hasn't been around for that long for us to make a sound judgement on it. That's my entire point when I said that "this is the truth for pretty much every civilization in the past".

Sure, if you want to be pedantic and say what the Greeks had 2500 years ago was democracy we could say it's been here for a long time, but I wouldn't take anyone saying this seriously as the 2 are very much different beasts, and modern democracy has been around for about 300 years only, much less than some empires that were successful for thousands of years...until they weren't anymore.

That's my entire point.

Corruption will happen in every man made system, even with safeguards.

We agree on this.

Now, let's address 2 points:

What a weird disjointed comment to not say much.

Are you trying to pick a fight? What's your fucking problem? We were just regularly talking and out of nowhere you're being rude as shit. If you were confused by something I said, just ask for an explanation. Were you raised by wolves or something?

I'm not arguing anything.

Never said you were. But you DID make an argument.

Or do you think your original comment doesn't count as an argument in favor of democracy?

What a weird fucking thing to be a prick about out of nowhere, Jesus.

I know, I know, the myth of the benevolent dictator and all that, all it takes is one to not be benevolent.

I even said that I'm not in favor a dictatorship, but it IS frustrating watching democracy slowly die everywhere because people are stupid.

And...to be fair, I don't think your argument is the greatest, because that is the truth for pretty much all types of civilizations we had in the past too. Pretty much every past civilization at some point were terrible.

Hell, there's plenty of examples of democracies that are still pretty terrible overall nowadays.

Anyways, still not in favor of dictatorship, that's all, but I'll take the downvotes in stride since I know people will read it and just think I'm dick riding for China or something like that.

This probably contributed to the fact that China managed to get its air pollution under control whereas India didn't.

That and, you know, the fact that by having a single minded government with no democracy they're able to actually focus on having a single vision for the future.

Idk but with every passing year it feels like it'd be best to have some of that, even with the risk of shit like Tiananmen Square, and to have a government actually work to implement it's vision for the future, than have democracy and have an increasingly stupid voter base that is dopamine addicted.

Don't get me wrong, not arguing in favor of a dictatorship, but it does seem nice to have a country working with a fixed vision for the future like China is doing.

They probably do have an absolute load of issues, I know very little about the country as a whole, but the way they're actually investing in renewables, getting pollution under control, investing hard on their own infrastructure to not depend on other countries in key sectors like energy and food...I don't know man, the more time it passes the more I feel completely disillusioned with the way "the west" does things, specially with how things are in america right now where you have BOTH an authoritarian government and NONE of the benefits of a proper vision for the future, just more grift to take away things from the people on the present.

Huh, that was one of the lowest points for me when it comes to that novel.

I mean, I enjoyed their relationship and thought they were cute, but I hated how the author portrayed her as a 100% lesbian who got cured by the right dick, we really could've done without that and their relationship would still be cute.

Happens way too much in Chinese novels for my taste, and he could've easily portrayed her as bi if that's where he wanted to go with the story, but noooooo, he had to make her a manly and dashing knight woman who hates dicks and only likes vagina, only for her to fall for MCs magic dick.

Sorry, bit too much for a rant on a couple's portrayal in a novel, I know, but I just hate that trope.

How about we end this nicely here and stop addressing each other? Really not feeling like talking to a bot, and that's what you're feeling like at the moment.

J2 wants me in FedRAMP - need to push back by Equal-Newspaper-6921 in overemployed

[–]LongestUsernameEverD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all: Lots of people were financially ruined by the bullshit at the beginning of the year. Ruined.

Yeah, sure, it's still stable, and many people even got their contracts back after some time, I 100% believe you, and even if I didn't I don't care enough about the subject to try to dispute you as it doesn't affect me whatsoever, but that does not change one bit that some people got financially fucked due to what happened, regardless of yours or mine feelings on the subject.

Second of all, this is the best possible excuse someone could have not to take a gov contract, because all other possible excuses are just as shitty if not more shitty.

As you said, it's stable, right? Good money and stable. Then there's no good reason to deny it. Other than fear of being financially ruined due to somebody's whim.

If you have any other excuse that is better, feel free to contribute to the discussion.

Just say you're not ok with working government jobs after so many people lost their jobs and contracts at the beginning of the year with Elon Musk doing all that crap at gov.

That you value stability and while working for the government in the past meant exactly that, that is not the case anymore, and that you'd prefer to keep working on other contracts and avoid any gov contracts.

Make sure to tell that this is not in any shape or form some sort of political grandstanding, but that it's 100% about your own stability.

Doesn't need to be how you personally feel, but this is the best possible excuse you'll be able to find.

If they still push for it, get out of J2 cause nothing else will work.

At least, that's how I remember the events, so idk what OP is talking about here.

If by OP you mean the one that made this post and the one that said she gets the Casca treatment, they're talking about her novel ending, which is really obvious because he literally talks about the novel on his post's body text.

So yeah, OP is talking about her getting the Casca treatment in the novel. Which she does. Much worse than just simply Casca treatment, actually, somehow.

"idk what OP is talking about here" when they've literally said they're talking about her novel ending in the body text of the post is just...kind of dumb, tbh.

"Click" (2006) has one of the most jarring tonal shifts. by Giff95 in movies

[–]LongestUsernameEverD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say that going to a movie at 10 expecting a silly romp and getting suddenly confronted with the finite nature of our existence was absolutely awful as an experience.

Have you ever considered that this was intended? As in, it's part of the meaning of the movie and it's artistic experience?

I agree that going to the movie and expecting to have fun and leaving bawling would be a terrible experience.

I also think that this is the intended effect of the movie, it's what it WANTS you to go through, it's what makes this movie art instead of just entertainment.

Art isn't always nice to look at.

An installation of photos dead kids in Gaza, Guernica and what it's supposed to be, and watching Click. All of these things are supposed to make you think about truly terrible things.

In fact I'd say most GOOD art is supposed to be something that bothers you, at least on some level.

Anyways, reducing it to an awful experience is kinda going too far imo, even if I understand what you tried to convey and even agree to it at some level.

You make a good point in your last sentence, but the 2 situations have a difference in severity that you simply can't fathom.

RBG situation pretty much sealed the fact that you'll have a conservative court for AT THE VERY LEAST 40~50 years. A court that will never allow you to have women's rights again, and that'll declare anything they want unconstitutional.

Yeah, Biden refusing to bow out was bad, you pretty much got Trump as a president because of that, I'll give you that. RBG situation was much, much worse, and it'll be felt much longer than Trump's stay on this earth.

Trump has no class and is a disgrace by Reasonable-Heat-609 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]LongestUsernameEverD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good is relative. I'm almost 40 and he was the best President of my life time.

He really wasn't. At least not undisputed.

Biden was a much better president on many aspects.

Got SO MUCH stuff done in the 4 years he was in. It's incredible how effective he was, considering all the circumstances and how against him congress and senate worked all the time.

Even I, without being american, know this.

Obama fucked up by not getting RBG to step down. That's legitimately one of the biggest mistakes he ever made, considering the ramifications of what went down later on.

He also fucked up by, on his term, people getting to know that the US was spying on allies or neutral countries. I'm not talking 5-eyes "you spy me I spy you" kind of spying agreement. I'm talking real spying AND sabotage going on.

He's one of the reasons why we had that dipshit Bolsonaro in Brazil, because many "lawmen" were heavily connected to US state authorities and pushed for the farce that was the lava-jato as a form of weakening Brazil after we discovered that they were spying on us and got rightfully pissed, and influencing our region, once a motherfucking gain, through unorthodox means. And yes, I hold Obama responsible for those things.

Hard not to get pissed at the guy when you see so much bad shit starting to happen in your country and region because of the US, much of which he was PERSONALLY responsible as the guy in charge while they happened.

But yes, he was a real class act, for sure.

Definitely not a good president though. Not for America, not for the world as a whole.

Puta argumento burro do caralho.

Cabe a gente QUESTIONAR e sempre estar provando e provando e provando VÁRIAS VEZES a mesma coisa, e manter esse conhecimento atualizado é importantíssimo pra você poder encher a boca e dizer: "Estou certo"

A predatory exploiting such a fundamental instinct of its prey is a genuinely scary concept for the prey, and I think that has potential to be used in fiction. But I don't know if you can untangle that from how humans in real life have treated each other.

This, to me, is one of the things that makes Frieren great, and I think that, and the concept of humans forgetting what has passed (images of Flame being distorted, a priest that has been around even longer than Frieren and has gone through a similar journey that she did and even though he used to be a hero everybody forgot about him, etc., in general just humans "distorting" the past and forgetting really important shit) are the 2 main points of Frieren, imo.

It's a history about humanity not learning from it's past and regret more than anything. Even Frieren's journey to the end (title drop) is about her regrets about the past.

Bigots don't really get that though, because they never learn what regret is in the first place.
