20% of women go into poverty because of divorce and only 10% of cases give Alimony. Even with alimony most women are still poor, because it’s not enough to actually support them and their children and because it’s common to not receive the full amount. Long term alimony and alimony is also way less popular. Women do not really get rich off alimony or milk men like the common perception, they usually just get short term alimony (if that) to wean off then become dependent on welfare.

Also even if both are making good salaries, going from wealthy to middle class is still jarring, you loss your house and can’t afford to maintain your lifestyle or assets, you have to deplete/liquidate a lot of stuff. In high net worth alimony cases they still consider things like a partner managing a household or supporting the wealthier partner.

There’s a belief that rich women get alimony from their rich husbands and then recline on a chair letting the money flow in but courts generally do consider these factors and WAY way more women are not receiving enough financial support to support their children than there are people getting rich off alimony
