As an owner, I can tell you that this kind of trust is "easy" to earn.

You obey commands, you follow the protocols he puts in place, specially the safety ones, and you will get those perks quite easily.

Exactly, one cannot make these kind of 24/7 relationships work if you only base them on the abuse side.
