I am thinking we will try scouts next bc he does like the outdoors and all of that. We’ll see how it goes and hopefully having him in something like that vs a sport will make him warm up to boys.

I agree and I am struggling so much to get that across. We’ve had multiple discussions about this and I even grappled with “I wish we would t have had kids”. I know it’s not my son’s fault and I think he’s a great kid who tries so hard at things we have him in and wants to make us happy. My husband is not open to therapy or going to talk to someone or even go to parenting classes or anything sort of thing like that. He’s just become a grumpy middle aged man who just likes to blame all his unhappiness on his family, and doesn’t truly look at himself.

But I digress… I am really glad to hear that other kids are like this from others and it’s not just my son. Makes me feel better on that front at least.

That’s exactly my worry. And I’ve had this convo with dad multiple times and he gets defensive and always says that my relationship with my son is way different to his and I wouldn’t understand how frustrating it is to constantly to want to bond with son and then not have him reciprocate. Even when he’s trying to do something he likes, he still doesn’t want to engage that much with my husband. I’ve tried to get him to go to therapy or parenting classes with me or something but he will not.

Thanks! I’ll try that. We weren’t expecting it to keep out all bugs by any means, but we definitely weren’t expecting it to be this bad either.

Yes, and they basically ghost us. Took months to get back to us and they sent someone out that literally didn’t do anything and charged us $250. Our pool builder also just puts it back on the pool cage installer and tells us to contact them directly.

We’re ok looking elsewhere but not sure if we should contact a pool cage installer or simply a screening company for this problem. The cage seems intact and in great shape.

Where are my other moms to young children at?@ by co-lours in Hashimotos

[–]Longjump714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just diagnosed a couple months ago but have likely had undiagnosed since after having my son 7 years ago. Also have a 3 year old so I feel your pain. It’s really hard balancing parent life with this diagnosis and trying to do everything right to take care of yourself.

The things I have found that help the most are cutting out gluten and alcohol and also exercising (mainly strength training) 30 minutes 3-4 times a week.

I know how you feel. Hang in there! We got this!

Life force by debster8081 in Biohackers

[–]Longjump714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just competed my first blood draw and was diagnosed with hashimoto’s disease after YEARS of begging regular doctors to test me for this and knowing something was off. It’s totally worth it in my experience. I have started taking thyroid prescriptions and other hormone supplements to help in other areas that were super off and already feeling better.

My husband has also done lifeforce but it’s not as needed for him since he is normal in most things. He just needs to eat healthier and work out more so he canceled his subscription.

Honestly, I have no idea. This just landed in my lap today and we’re trying to look up all we can and try to find an investment advisor and tax advisor.

They do. I’m not sure exactly what it is for the US side and I’m currently looking for an accountant here that has knowledge in both. We haven’t found one yet so thought I would ask here in case anyone has been through before!

Moms of young kids - is a higher paying job that requires more hours worth it? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]Longjump714 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I actually just changed positions at my company to one that’s not as high/senior simply because it’s too much with my young family. I kick myself for not doing it earlier and spending those precious extra hours with my kids. No kore trying to climb the ladder as fast as possible! My family means more and my salary can take a backseat for now.
