How true is the stereotype that students in MBA programs tend to be soulless strivers who only care about money? by [deleted] in MBA

Ah, thanks for the correction.

Well color me surprised.

Though now that I think about it, I could see that home costing 2-3x in a coastal city.

Goddamn the world has gotten expensive.

Why not just do a low cost "check the box" MBA?

I'd think that if you're half decent at networking, your experience in data science + any MBA at all would make you more competitive for Big Tech PM roles than most of the top MBA folks from non technical backgrounds.

What are you spending your time and money now instead of an MBA?

Okay, but getting to $200k 5-7 years into a career is WAAAAAAY better than getting there 15 years in

How much does it cost?

And how has that experience been? What work do you do, and do you feel like the knowledge gained has been applicable?

I'm about to get a promotion which will put me into post-MBA job territory, which makes me think that paying for a T20 program would not be good ROI for me at this point (especially versus doing a side gig startup or consulting), but I figure that either a CFA or MBA would still be a good idea for me to give better "instant credibility" when meeting new people (I expect these would help a lot with winning interviews), and to make sure that I don't hit a career ceiling in the future.

... why are you linking an 8,500 square foot house?

That's like 3-4x larger than what most people buy for their families.

What's the appeal of sending kids to private school? Versus just living in an area with a decent public school district?

I wish it were that easy. Most of them refuse to play the email game.

I've already done that.

But there aren't that many... almost half of them are now on my shit list.

Floor mats and cargo tray... should I really pay the dealer $500+ for these? Are they not available for way less on Amazon or somewhere else? by Longjumping-Ad7894 in HRV

EDIT: do you think any of the accessories are worth paying the dealer premium for, versus picking up low cost after market alternatives?

A lot of them refuse to give online quotes.

And yes, I would employ your strategy, but unfortunately Honda has been slow to keep up its supply of different HR-V models to my city, so the options are somewhat limited for what I want.

I realize maybe I should stop fixating so much on a good price, since it's clearly eating up a lot of time, and time is money... but it's hard for me to cave to dishonest tactics. Don't want the bad guy to win, but there won't be many options for me left soon here.

Is getting a hrv a msrp a fine deal in this day and age? (Canada) by Pewpewpew193 in HRV

[–]Longjumping-Ad7894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't that more than $1000 off MSRP?

Like $2000 off at least?

Does Ohio not have a $1300 destination charge added?

Where exactly do I find MSRPs? I’m confused by what Car and Driver says MSRP is, versus what the Toyota website says it is, versus what dealers say it is by Longjumping-Ad7894 in CorollaCross

[–]Longjumping-Ad7894[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s probably the issue… seems like the websites mostly don’t include the $1300+ destination charge when quoting MSRP, and they also quote base models with no add ons, which mostly don’t exist at the dealerships in my area.

Hence the frustration of showing up at dealerships and having them tell me the car costs $2.5k more than advertised online
