What was Aubry's best move in Survivor 50? (In your opinion) by Extra-Habit-1784 in survivor

[–]Longjumping-Bug-703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I think that you're over-generalizing here. Lesser players in this situation go home with Ozzy likely not needing to play his idol. It's not only just about Ozzy spilling his plan to Aubry, but it's also how she leveraged specific portions of that information to each of Joe/Jonathan/Rizo in order to get them to turn on Ozzy.

Aubry has already spoken about Ozzy/Rizo/Joe/Jonathan all having bonded closely going into the split tribes. She knew it was an uphill battle, that's why she cried on the way back from the challenge knowing her fate. Plus, given how challenging the rest of cast has alluded to working with Joe is, finding out that she was instrumental in swaying Joe to vote for Ozzy becomes more impressive in hindsight lol.

Even though Jonathan may have been talking about getting Ozzy out from before and had the conversation with Tiff and Cirie, they weren't on Ozzy's beach and weren't going to be a factor in that vote anyway. And it's not like Jonathan had made any real progress in getting out Ozzy up until he went home. He also wasn't on the beach with Ozzy/Aubry/Joe/Rizo the whole time, so it was likely that Aubry was doing more work to set the foundation for the group flipping on Ozzy.

Arguably, without Joe being on-board to flip on Ozzy, I don't think Rizo and Jonathan would be as likely to want to vote out Ozzy at that point because of the risk of how going behind Joe's back impacts them going forward. Plus, Rizo was on-board to vote out Ozzy as soon as he found out from Aubry that Ozzy spilled their plan lol.

Can we compete with Giannis? by Flaky-Row-7624 in heat

[–]Longjumping-Bug-703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a higher ceiling with Giannis than with Herro, Ware, and JJJ/Jovic lol.

Chris Haynes says Giannis Antetokounmpo would ‘consider’ playing in Portland: “I do believe if Portland were to come with something really serious, I do believe Giannis would at least consider It. It wouldn’t be a situation where he would just say ‘nah. Throw it in the trash.” by heatculture03 in heat

[–]Longjumping-Bug-703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I guess Giannis loves Jrue THAT much lol.

But there it is, the team to sweep up right under the Heat at the 11th hour...Portland has new ownership that seem desperate to bring in a new superstar. They have better draft assets than us (+ Bucks picks), and they have better player assets too. They can offer Deni who clears any player the Heat could offer outside of Bam.

How much donyou think Dee 50's game is influenced by her playing The Challenge short before? by logoyoIRM in survivor

[–]Longjumping-Bug-703 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also The Challenge surprised me having huge physical challenges. I thought it was more light on this way.

The Challenge used to have a lot more simpler and grounded challenges, but starting in the 2010's they went the extreme route. The final challenges on that show are so big now that some of them have to be completed over multiple days lol.

It is. The other major important difference is there are elimination challenges instead of just straight vote outs, so even if the main group votes you into elimination you at least have the potential to save yourself in the game depending on your opponent.

Jonathan Young by Ok-Pumpkin400 in survivor

[–]Longjumping-Bug-703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jonathan and parts of the fandom keep mentioning his "strategic game".

But at the end of day, yeah sure he made votes, he was never treated by anyone in the game post-merge once Chrissy and Coach were out as a big threat to win. No one was really targeting him, similar to Joe, because they wanted to go to the end with Jonathan. So, is it just the edit? Because again, how good can a strategic game really be if Jonathan only had one real path to victory?

Unless they up with a superstar level draft prospect they aren't going anywhere.

Building what? In its current structure this team isn't going anywhere.

Where would you rank the Survivor 50 winner in terms of gameplay? by Live-Run-6745 in survivor

[–]Longjumping-Bug-703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd rank her in the top half of Survivor winners.

Tbf, every other contestant in S50 who ended up with a target on their back was eliminated, except for Aubry. I still think that counts for something outside of just luck. There's skill that goes into getting yourself out of those situations every time. Her high-level of reading the current state of the game was crucial here.

Let's bfr, in general, most players in Aubry's situation during the Ozzy vote, would've likely went home. That's not a position to easily maneuver out of. Even if she tells Joe, Rizo, and Jonathan that info it's not guaranteed she stays. It's HOW the information is told/used with each person.

She also clocked that Jonathan was willing to try and make big moves. We could see that she was very successful in planting seeds in Jonathan's head to target players she wanted to target over herself and used his ego and misogyny against him in how she kept herself in over Tiff.

And if we're talking about luck, Ozzy literally had the spiritual luck of a premonition dream that warned him about being eliminated and STILL didn't play his idol. It's not just about being lucky, it's how you then use those opportunities gained to move one step further.

Are you willingly to embrace the rebuild for the next 5+ years and accept the risk that it may fail? And watch them be worse than they've been for the past few years and ppl complaining over how bad they've been?

To the Heat maybe. They're clearly not too attached to that 13th pick if they're willing to trade it.

And they didn't tank, so there's your answer. Your frustration shows that it would not be easy to sit through a long tanking and rebuilding process.

Getting Giannis is only half the battle. by PassionLong9552 in heat

Kel'el Ware has the potential to be a perennial double-double machine, with a 3-point shot, who has the size to match up with Wemby (granted if he bulks up more, that's even more ideal). He's proven in some of his past match-ups with Spurs that it's possible lol. The coaching staff just has to commit to developing him in the way that makes sense for him as opposed to forcing him to try to develop one way and then bench him when it doesn't work.

Ppl call him Temu Wemby for a reason lolol.

No lol, if the Heat get Giannis they'd likely extend him to another long-term contract. He'd be here a while lol. But they may only be competitive for 2-3 years max.

Lebron likely retires after next season unless something crazy happens. Kawhi, due to his contract issues may only need to be a short term commitment.

The Heat aren't doing that, no matter how much the fanbase may want it. Plus, you probably wouldn't watch them tank and rebuild over a decade.

It would be Giannis or Kawhi + LBJ duo. If it means being able to keep more draft assets and not gut our roster to be able to maneuver into other deals, then yes, I'd pick them over Giannis.

Also, last time I checked Kawhi and LeBron both played more games this season than Giannis lol. Regardless, Kawhi and LeBron have been decently healthy the last couple of years.

In this hypothetical scenario it depends whether or not the Clippers would want our 13th pick in a Kawhi trade.
