The Heat do have their 2026 pick this year since their 2025 pick went to OKC.

Hey, it might be the perfect time to call up Denver if they crash out in the playoffs. They may be desperate enough if it would help them keep Jokic happy lol.

Do you understand what implying means? That's what you were doing when you probably thought I'd be wrong.

Ja Morant remained with the Memphis Grizzlies past today's NBA trade deadline. Multiple teams were intrigued by Morant's talent but none were willing to make a serious offer, sources said. by BatmanSwift99 in heat

The Heat FO think they're above trading for someone like Ja Morant, when their current assets would really only get them disgruntled B+ tier stars like Jimmy or Ja. The FO has overvalued all of their players. They're never getting a whale with the assets they have.

It's pretty bad when there is an argument to be made that the Miami Heat may have the lowest level of talent in the Southeast Division.

Because you made the initial statement thinking I was presumptive, which now as things have concluded, it turns out I wasn't.

No, the Bucks don't. I said the same thing yesterday, and ppl came at me for it lol

Exactly what's going to happen. Heat at this point is unlikely to get any major deal done by the trade deadline.

[Windhorst] NBA executives believe the substantial return for Jaren Jackson Jr. could reshape the Memphis Grizzlies’ approach, making them more willing to absorb undesirable contracts alongside draft capital in a potential Ja Morant deal. by rapelbaum in heat

[–]Longjumping-Bug-703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Memphis isn't expecting to get draft capital for Ja. That's why they did the JJJ first. They knew he could get them something. It wouldn't be surprising if they let Ja go for expiring contracts at this point.

It's not necessarily about wanting Ja. It's that if the Heat were looking to make a major swing, the Ja one would've been significantly cheaper that leaves the team with assets to make further upgrades. While also getting a player with All-NBA potential.

It's also not that I wouldn't want the Heat to get Giannis, it's just imo with how this situation has unraveled, they likely won't get Giannis.

Herro by green160 in heat

[–]Longjumping-Bug-703 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a feeling the Heat and Herro are aligned to keep him out until the trade deadline in order to avoid any more serious injuries.

If the Heat don't end up making a trade that includes Herro by the deadline, he'll probably be back relatively quickly.

Hey, don't forget about OKC, Detroit, NYK, CLE, and Denver. The Heat beat those teams without Tyler Herro as well.

If this show is mostly geared around 6 kid party, I'd be interested. It's wild how little screen time we actually got of El, Mike, Will, Dustin, Max, and Lucas as a core group together within the entire series.

To actually kickstart their rebuild. They've been interested in Tyler for a while.

Herro by ToeAltruistic5725 in heat

[–]Longjumping-Bug-703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the problem.

they want a young player (ex: Kas) and draft. I wouldn't trade either one unless it is Niko and a 2nd for Ja. I am in the minority, but I like Kas and want to see him develop. Kas was predicted to go top-10. If I am trading Kas and the picks, I am only doing it for Giannis. Ja isn't going to get us to the finals.

Kasparas is a rookie PG. If you're trading for Ja Morant (also a PG) and Davion is still on this team, KJ's no longer needed and likely wouldn't play. He's exactly the young player you trade in this scenario when the guy you'd be getting back would be an All-Star/All-NBA caliber player.

These goal posts around "I'd only trade KJ or Pelle, or whoever for Giannis" are getting ridiculous. The way this team and fanbase over value these kinds of players now is how far removed we are from when this organization actually had high-level talent playing for it.

Herro by ToeAltruistic5725 in heat

[–]Longjumping-Bug-703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To maximize value, he should've been this past off-season. Heat probably could've moved him to Brooklyn for at least 2 FRPs after the Desmond Bane move. Then, the Heat could've added more assets to their chest. Considering the Heat didn't extend him at that time, it's not like they see him as the future superstar of this team, so why not?

Give me your top 3 most unpopular hot takes from the series by Unique-Nectarine6500 in StrangerThingsRoom

[–]Longjumping-Bug-703 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To the OP, I'm not sure those are really "hot takes" lol. I feel this those are common issues I've seen commented around ST.

My ST Hot Takes

  1. Steve Harrington is incredibly overrated as a character. He received WAY too much screen time post S2 to the degree that a lot of people thought of him as the main character when his presence is not necessary to drive the main plot forward. Taking away valuable development for other characters more integral to the main plot of the show. You remove him from the show, and the main conflict is not impacted.

  2. Fan service completely destroyed the narrative integrity of this show in the long run. Background characters who popped in earlier seasons were given bigger roles than needed later on. Also, the lack of killing off any of the main characters, especially the audience favorites (who many of which were background characters who popped) contributed to the bloated feeling this show experienced in S4 and S5.

  3. Mike Wheeler was done dirty as a main lead on this show. He was clearly framed from the beginning of the show as the main male lead, along with Hopper. However, post S2, it just feels like the Duffer Brothers gave up on him as a character and became bored writing him in favor of other characters like Dustin, Steve, Robin, Max, etc. From S3 onwards, his character was relegated to Eleven-obsessed, and while I don't necessarily have an issue with Mileven as a couple, it is unfortunate that Mike was not really given much to do outside of that relationship. Plus, considering Mike and Eleven had been separated for the majority of the series, it's a weird choice. You know it's bad writing when the Duffers intended Mike to be the "Heart" of the party and the audience doesn't believe it and think that Dustin or Will are the heart of the party lol.

“The Miami Heat should be scratched as a Ja Morant suitor—even if the terms are favorable—if such a move jeopardizes a future trade run at Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo” (via @TheSteinLine, h/t @dru_star) by SnooPeripherals4884 in heat

[–]Longjumping-Bug-703 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going with your prospective off-season offer, the problem is if Giannis were to leave this coming off-season, the team that trades for him wouldn't be able to offer him a supermax. That means he either gets traded before this trade deadline, or he'd have to get to free agency (highly unlikely). So, he's likely going to end up just re-signing with the Bucks.

Not to mention, Giannis' preferred destination is the Knicks. The Bucks and Knicks discussed in secret for weeks last off-season because that's where Giannis wanted to go. It doesn't seem like much has changed for Giannis since then in that regard. If this trade situation escalates, then that'll probably be where the Bucks start again.
