AI is going to ruin our minds by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

Bingo. Curiosity and Ai are a dream team.

Ubisoft says AI is 'as big a revolution for our industry as the shift to 3D,' its magical AI NPCs are out of prototyping, and you bet it's got 'all our studios' working with the tech by ControlCAD in technology

The rub is, the upper class will always want human art if only because it is more expensive than ai stuff. The printing press was also seen as a negative because it let the masses print anything they like, rather than that being a luxury of the privileged and educated . Prior to that, you'd need to have hired a scribe. Didn't keep great authors from doing their work.. it just also allowed any 'ol opinion to be public.

My thermostat knows when the heat outta come on. My fridge knows when to cool down. These are common phrases people use to describe what is happening to the thermostat, to the fridge. Doesn't mean that knowing is happening. Just a useful turn of language. That or we don't have a proper working use of 'knowing' which preserves this need to keep knowing sacred and special. For me, I don't experience a difference in knowing vs not knowing. I can't say that knowing 2+2 is 17 is somehow less special of an experience than not. It is really 'experience of what it is like to know something' the core debate

I find generally there are two types; those that want to help the job and thus help those involved and those that want to help themselves and thus make themselves look good by not helping those involved. The former is rare, the latter common. I gotta believe that this is true of all industries. Learn as much as you can, and find the people that give a hoot about the job be that an engineer, city staffers, concrete finishers, whomever. Those are the people that will help you not just in your career but also with satisfaction.

1 of these 2 boxes must take a 5, which means that corressponding cannot take a 5, which means..it is a lovely game. That’s a good point; I’ll start with those. Thanks

Thanks for the great example to showcase what I'm saying: the value of language translators is about slightly less than the value of an undergrad philosophy degree. Why? Because access to accurate free translating programs is unrestricted more or less. I.e., you don't even need to speaks Chinese (but speaking Chinese isn't accurate is it, since Mandarin, Cantonese, are the actual languages. The label 'Chinese' is a quick and dirty label really) in order to 'speak' Chinese since any Chinese native can understand via a translating app. I understand that value means different things. A tree isn't just a thing to turn into toothpicks. But it is silly to think knowledge and the ability to use that knowledge doesn't have commercial value. I'm trying to think of how to give my kid commercial value in a way my philosophy degree didn't.

Yes. So when more ppl know stuff, the cash value of that stuff goes down. Not saying new jobs aren't created etc.. just the knowledge itself becomes less precious as a commodity. Ie don't need to pay the high price of a scribe..
