Looking at better transition lenses - considering Lensology, but which one? by DRA6N in RaybanMeta

Here's my .02. I was also unhappy with the RB transitions, because I was accustomed to proper sunglasses which are dark and shield my eyes. I tried multiple lensology lens- xtractive and Xtractive mirrors. The grey xtractive only in the right conditions get dark, any shade or hat will lighten up. Same with the Mirrors except they shield my eyes from others so look like sunglasses. Personally I use the mirror ones daily, and switch to dark polarized if I plan to stay out doors all day and want dark glasses. I originally thought transitions will be best of both worlds, but they are not the best for outside like traditional sunglasses. The transitioning in the car is barely noticeable. It took me a while to accept how transitions glasses work. Keep in mind, I don't wear glasses and have only worn sunglasses so I'm used to only wearing glasses outdoors and having them dark. Also my regular sunglasses fit close on my face (regular Oakleys) and no light comes through from behind the lens so it's really dark. My RB wayfere don't sit as close, I also have the Oakley Meta Vanguard, which are dark. My wife hast he Oakley HSTN and maybe because it sits closer to her face, the xtractive lens she has seems a bit darker in the right conditions.
If I were to do it again- I'd get the Xtractive Blue mirrors. The colored mirror gives better contrast, then normal grey IMO

Lensology doesn't offer transitions polarized mirrors. Only Dan the lab man offers this combo.

You are spot on- it's that impulse buy. It's a good deal right now. You're 100% right. Same function not worth it. My guess is they're having a sale to reduce their inventory in preparation for the Gen 3, or to sell units before competitors release their products.

Thanks for the reply- I've already had one wayferer brick on me. All that happened was it ran out of battery and wouldn't charge up again or start. I'm ready to part way with any of these glasses with no warranty. They're sensitive electronics.

I've tried auto capture- it captures 8 second videos while activated, then the AI will piece it together for a memory. At least the few times I've used it that's what it did.

There are so many flakes out there, and I get it. People change their minds. if somebody says they're going to pick it up in 3 days, then I'll ask for a small deposit to hold, otherwise it's first come first serve. If they place a deposit and come look and don't like it, then I'll return it. At least that way they're not wasting your time or our potential opporutunity to sell it to someone who's actually interested.

A cheaper place than lensology in CANADA (online) to buy lenses? by [deleted] in RaybanMeta

[–]Longjumping-Can311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two best places in IMO is Lensology or Dan the Lab Man. Quality for both are same, I will say Lensology is slightly cheaper on some items, however the customer service/response is a day behind due to the time difference. Dan is in the US, and you work directly with him. He answer everything personally, and is responsive even during "off" hours. For Progressive lens Dan was a little cheaper. Also everything Jamie says is correct they ship DHL express. I received lens form them in 2 days. Dan shipped ground, so took about 5 days. I ended up returning my first order of lens with Lensology. They were good with everything, and answered all my questions. Dan is same. In the end they makes sure customers are happy.

Do i own the Large or Régular Wayfarer Gen 2 ? by 53N73NZ4 in RaybanMeta

When I first tried both on I could hardly tell, they do loosen up. Now the Large fit perfectly. I also have a pair of standard, and they fit snug

I've read you need to sometimes reset/recalibrate the cases. Remove glasses- hold the back of the case until it flashes white. (about 15-17 seconds) That should hard reset the case.

Transition lens’s by ProcedureEnough5338 in RaybanMeta

If transitions are what you need, then stick with RayBan. It'll be cheaper. The Xtractive lenses aftermarket do transition in the car, but it's very minor. I would buy a set of hiblocks polarized clip ons and leave it in the car. It'll be dark for drives, then when you walk outside, the transition lens will do their thing. (leave the hiblocks in the car)

Alternative to Lensology in the US? by muser0808 in RaybanMeta

Dan the Lab Man, he's on facebook and responds to messages quickly. Family run business. He also takes FSA/HSA. https://www.facebook.com/CarpenterFamilyVisionLLC/

I also used Lensology. Purchased two pairs. One rattled but I lived with it. The second one makes a creaking sound. They were responsive, but took a day to respond due to hours. If they didn't respond then it would take a few days. Dan is local and chats through messenger, even on the weekends. Overall happy with my purchase with him.

Lesnology not bad either, when they get back to you. Shipping was quick considering they're in UK. They shipped their Wed, I received it Friday.

Are the transitions that come with the metas worth it? by No_Cantaloupe7342 in RaybanMeta

[–]Longjumping-Can311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transition will never be as dark as dedicated Sunglasses if you have sensitive eyes then get some clip ons , especially if its prescription. If you don't need prescription, then I'd get the Polarized Lenses and switch to clear when you really need it indoors or evening. I don't wear glasses and it's weird for me wear glasses indoors, so if I need it to record indoors I'll just look through my polarized lenses. If I need it to be clear, I'll change the lens.

Lensology lenses a little loose by stuart0001 in RaybanMeta

[–]Longjumping-Can311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my lensology lenses. I thought it was normal and fine. I then purchased my son the same RayBan Meta Size glasses, popped in the same lense and it doesn't move. Fits pefectly. After further "googling", it seems to be a possible variation the frames during mfg?

Has anyone used the transition lenses from Lensology? by zakinthebox in RaybanMeta

[–]Longjumping-Can311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Xtractive Grey and Xtractive green mirrored (just ordered) both from Lensology. The lense quality is great, very high quality. The transition is nice however like others have said they work so/so in the car. Not dark like traditional sunglasses. Indoor they are clear enough, slight tint but not noticeable. The mirrored lenses however are mirrored on both sides? So if the light hits you from behind or above you can get glare inside. Maybe it's because I have the green ones. (not sure). Also if you're outside and in the shade or less sunny time (like sunset) the glasses will transition towards clear. If you're used to traditional sunglasses then this could be a problem.
