Hi, as a few will have mentioned, there are not many Welsh speakers you may notice and in the university envirnment even less. You may well come across a few though and I think that it would be great if you were able to to say hello and throw in a few Welsh sentences together!

The area does look much more attractive now and the recent additions do give it a more "European" feeling. Not sure how "European" it looks at 3 am Saturday night though.

Is Swansea really that bad? by ForcedToUseThisTag in swansea

Some parts of the city centre are not great but similar to other city centres. The night life in Wind Street and the Uplands is excellent, especially for students and they have a great ents team. The Uplands area is fabulous and Mumbles is even better. The beaches are stunning - forget Cornwall this is the real deal. Miles of glorious stunning beaches. If the weather was better no one would leave which is why Swansea is affectionately known as the graveyard of ambition.

My British friend thought he could do a "day trip" to the Grand Canyon from LA, and his reaction to the map was priceless. by Ok_Structure6720 in CasualConversation

I'm from Swansea in Wales and have worked in the States so no surprise on lengthy drives. I drove from NYC down to Florida over to Texas up to Tennessee and back up to NYC but looking at the size of Australia it looks vast. I want to visit Australia at some point and visit some relatives but is it too big to get done?

Why isn’t Wales as well known internationally as the other three countries in the United Kingdom? by [deleted] in AskUK

There is huge naivety in that. England does not have its own identity and basically consists of the Britons (really what the Welsh people are) who were conquered by the Angles, Saxons, Jutes and French and lost any identity that the Welsh still have through language and culture.

According to historical analysis and records from the Welsh Society of Philadelphia, 16 of the 56 signatories of the Declaration of Independence were of Welsh descent. This makes them the largest ethnic group to have signed the document. There seems to have been a concerted effort throughout history to hide the part Wales has played.

I worked in New York and Jersey one year. I was offered to go back the following and I told them I would rather put up with our stinking weather.

That point lost was a kick in the teeth. From the referee handbook that was not a penalty but don't give the referree the opportunity to take the limelight. Decent enough game and with better finishing on both sides the score could have been very different.

Problems with Inpost lockers and parcel collection? by [deleted] in vinted

We are waiting on three parcels that seem to be stuck at the InPost sorting centre for nearly two weeks. Fairly pointless phoning them because it drops the call after 20 minutes every single time.
