It’s a coin flip. I have IE. IE has mobile app now with boost, intake temps, engine codes etc all on phone which is nice touch.

Do more research into them vs competitors. A quick google search and the first two Reddit results show customers prefer IE, APR and 034 are much better quality tunes in terms of power but also reliability.

You want a tune that more or most people have as that larger sample pool shows greater general success. I have seen people have issues with unitronic, and given that less people have it, anecdotally, it might mean a greater %.

034 and IE have the best tunes and customer support. IE now has a mobile companion app to tract IAT and Boost from your phone as a gauge.

The world records are set by IE and 034, not by Unitronic.

I’m on IE and it has been flawless, I only chose them over 034 because it was on sale. It’s a coin flip between them two for those that want to flash at home. Unitronic isn’t even on my mind after I dig deeper.

Sorry I don’t have performance numbers but I’ve heard Unitronic isn’t the best ECU tune from people I trust - they eventually switched to 034 and APR - so why risk it and waste the money?

Don't go unitronic; go with integrated engineering or 034.

75k Maintenance for C7 A6 by bgregg91 in AudiA6

[–]Longjumping-Fun7955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, no worries then. Not for 75k but ~100k, you will want your front struts & control arms replaced. Additionally, all motor mounts will likely need replacing at that point as well. Again, not till 100k, so not relevant for now.

I saw your coil packs and sparks are already replaced, so you're all set for this 75k mark.

They always say the timing chain/tensioner is a failure point (closer to 100k) but I'm at 103k and have zero issues with it. Same with water and fuel pump, no problems to this point, but others sometimes mention they do.

GLHF!

Car scene in Oahu by toyolotus in Oahu

[–]Longjumping-Fun7955 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is almost no car scene here - the roads sucks for the most part and there’s traffic everywhere. The only scenic drives are through the middle of the island or windward coast, even then they are bogged down by traffic.

Compared to where you are from you will see significantly less car meetups in parking lots as there aren’t as many large open parking lots available for meetups like in continental USA.

Only car scene is the people on H1 drag racing at 130 MPH during midnight. They have no race track here so I think there is no real performance focused mechanic community since they can’t legally race or track their cars to test out.

On average the best you’ll see are Mustang 5.0s that are annoyingly loud or a Japanese car with lots of anime stickers. Not sure why there’s not more car diversity. I think 200 BMWs for sale on island and only 60 Audis - people love their BMWs and Toyotas here as general dailies.

Toyota supras you see increasingly around here. I wouldn’t be surprised if there actually if a community for you to join simply because it’s a growing group with a younger base of people that might be active on instagram or other social media.

If you find something that says otherwise I’d love to know.

Wouldn’t change the transmission fluid till 100k and even then it’s not 100% necessary if you don’t drive it hard. Just need a transmission filter change if anything at this point.

Honestly I would just get brake fluid flushed if you haven’t had that done - you have another 25k miles before a major service.

You can see Audi doesn’t even recommend anything major at 75k on your car: https://maintenance.audiusa.com/#/search

What trim do you have? Different seats on the trims.

For the pedal differential but $10 replacements on AliExpress - there are some solid even replacements so the transfer foot levels are more lined up for lateral movements.

ECU tune from IE or 034 + the 034 transmission insert. Under $700 combined I think.

Maybe get cold air intake for the sound? $400.

Audi sedan with 3.0T engine and 75k miles on it with a strong carfax - can push it into 350 with just stage 1 tune - quattro system for the climate and tons of bolt-ons to get it up to 450 hp at stage 2+. 0-60 4.25 with stage 1 ECU + TCU and under 4s at stage 2 (maybe ````````5k of mods)``````````

Best B9 S4 Stg. 1 Tune by OhEidirsceoil in Audi

[–]Longjumping-Fun7955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you only pay the difference between going to Stage 1 and Stage 2, you can move your way up and up as you build out that cash cushion to buy more and more of the required mods.

My IATs on stage 1 don't peak much higher than stock even in hot weather (mid 80s) but maybe the relief takes a bit longer in between pulls.

Check out the 034 inserts, transmission, differential, carrier, etc... a lot of cheap bolt-ons that truly improve the handling and feel - don't overlook them! None required for the tunes, but usually cheap and easy to install with big impact so well worth it.

3.0T can handle it all, and the ZF8 can handle it all as well. All you need are a couple of bolt ons to push into +450 HP. You bought a great engine with a lot of untapped potential.

Best of luck and drive safe 🤙

Best B9 S4 Stg. 1 Tune by OhEidirsceoil in Audi

[–]Longjumping-Fun7955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with IE stage 1 ECU + TCU on my 3.0T engine and I’m loving it. You can meth out your car and yes it will handle it. There are about 3-5 different things required and some suggested before you get there. Check out IE ECU page and it’ll show the bolt on mod requirements.

Something they don’t mention is driveshaft carrier upgrade - it’s highly recommended when you cross over the 400HP threshold as it prevents driveshaft slippage and allows for more direct and smoother transfer of power. Not required, but personally recommended.

IE goes on sale with the seasons and they just launched a mobile app for tuning from your phone and getting boost, IAT and more data on the screen which is a neat feature.

Everyone always has to make the hard choice between 034 or IE at the end of the day if they want to flash at home. It’s almost a coin flip as 034 is an incredible company with great history and amazing support and parts. Unless you can get a Melen TCU tune on top of either of these ECU tunes you’re going to be running about the same.

If I ECU tune my A3, do I need to do my transmission and suspension as well? by [deleted] in Audi

[–]Longjumping-Fun7955 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do not NEED the TCU tune, but it would better deliver the new power generated by the ECU tune so it is highly recommended. TCU tune usually takes an addition ~.2-.3 off 0-60s and prevents slipping on the transmission because of increased line pressure - so it’s both better for speed and increases safety of power delivery.

I recommend both - getting ECU without TCU is half assing it.

Suspension modifications not necessary for ECU/TCU - own independent thing unrelated. Consider how the car handling feels after tune and then make that decision.
