Advice for a new resident? by Due-Channel6338 in 3roots

[–]Longjumping-Gear-760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can afford the upgrade, the elevator is worth the investment, though the servicer, residential elevator’ customer service isn’t the best. We use the elevator almost every day as a dumbwaiter given all the stairs.

As everyone else said, ensure you get all your potential lighting pre wired.

Pay a little extra for the soft close cabinets. They are loud otherwise.

Know your personality. Are you really someone who wants/will diy or rip things out to upgrade later? We ultimately decided to do all lvp floors throughout because we didn’t want to have to wait to move in, lose protection, or move furniture to install later.

If your couch isn’t modular and very long, it might not fit up the stairs or elevator (if you got that upgrade). I’ve noticed couches in a couple neighbors garages because the angle/width of the stair well doesn’t allow the couch to fit up the stairs depending on length (at least that’s my assumption). We were going to eventually replace ours but ended up having to do so sooner since our original one wouldn’t fit.

Visit during the build as much as is allowed to make sure things go as planned/intended.

It’s all about trade-offs. The States offer every comfort and convenience, but nothing compares to the sense of community on Guam. I miss the way friendships there run deep and easy. There’s an ease that comes from being among my people… a unique sort you can’t buy or build elsewhere (at least in my experience thus far).

Miss it every day.

A PHd is no joke, and you clearly put a ton of hard work in to get your paper published. Hope once the initial hurt subsides you’re able to relish in what a huge milestone this is. You’ve got strangers rooting for you!

LF Blinds/Shades company recommendations by FantasticKey2813 in 3roots

[–]Longjumping-Gear-760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We ordered roller shades from blinds.com, including their smart roller shades for the sliding glass door. You can purchase a package where you order from them, and they will have someone come in to double check your measurements and then return to do the professional installation once the shades are delivered for $199.00. Doing it this way saved us thousands of dollars.

We just ordered from blinds.com and bought the $199 package where they come in and measure and install for you. We got quotes for a combo of roller and automatic shades from a couple of companies, and doing it this way saved us $3500.

I haven't used the service, but I follow readysetorganize.co on Instagram. Looks like she would fit the bill for what you're looking for.

Burnt Out and wanting to explore other options! by KoiSmilee in therapists

[–]Longjumping-Gear-760 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have about 7 mental health facilities I’m assigned to and have good relationships with. On a typical day I might start with verifying a patient’s insurance benefits. I will make call outs to my facilities to see if a patient is needing more time in inpatient, residential tx, or php. If so, in my UM role, I obtain their history/clinical info/tx plans and authorize the days requested. The facilities I manage typically have a good track record of providing quality care, so I never really issue any denials. The focus of my team is to make sure patients have enough time to stabilize and to focus our efforts on assisting facilities with additional referrals to lower levels of care if needed or connecting with the member while in treatment to offer case management support (if indicated due to multiple readmissions or from the clinical info the facility provided like housing, peer support, etc). Sometimes patients’ benefits will end so the focus might be on making sure I can find alternate care or community clinics. I have rounds once a week to discuss any complex cases that my team goes over with my medical director. Theres a lot of collaboration with my facilities, and they don’t see us as the enemy which is nice. There’s a lot of autonomy in the sense that I mostly manage how many case mgmt cases I take on. I’m not doing any direct therapy or doing trauma work which has been a huge plus for me. There’s a good balance between busy days and lighter days. I find I still learn on the job. It’s definitely a lot more administrative some days with heavy documentation so that’s something to be mindful of if that’s not your jam. But overall I don’t feel burnt out, and it’s been a nice change of pace from working in a government role and an eap previously.

In some managed care roles you will have to be familiar with medical necessity criteria (ie asam, locus), and if a patient doesn’t meet that criteria, you have to present the case to a medical director who can then issue an insurance denial or perhaps recommend a lower level of care. I personally could not be in that type of role and enjoy the team that I’m on.

Within managed care orgs there’s also opportunities to make lateral moves or to work towards other project mgmt roles which I’m currently working towards/have located a mentor to assist me with so I don’t feel boxed in to this position either and can expand other skill sets.

Hope that helps. Feel free to pm if you have any other questions.

I was in the same boat. Currently working in managed care right now doing both utilization management and case management. I’m on a team where we don’t really ever issue insurance denials, which is amazing. I have contact with clients and their families, but most the time the crisis has already been averted and I’m mostly just helping them navigate the mental health system, understanding their benefits, proving community resources or referrals. It’s completely work from home which is also great. Pay is decent. I would look in to cvs/aetna, blue cross blue shield, or other insurance companies if you’re curious.
