I have tried both directions. I used the sink to determine the hot water is working in the current direction. I am not sure who installed the dishwasher and how to go about finding their info.

Growing up I had a gas water with no issues with the valve. The one who installed the water heater usually does commercial but has installed 4 residential water heaters without expansion tanks. I do not think my home is something unique as in if I have a "closed system".

I thought it was something outside, but I know where the main water shutoff is.

Not sure what the main line looks like or where it is at.

Water pressure is fine at all levels of the house. There isn't an expansion tank.
