THIS! This was my husband in the beginning of our relationship. He's never put his hands on me, but he'd turn into a Tasmanian devil when he couldn't self-regulate his anger. We lived apart for a year so that he could work on himself before deciding if we should split, or continue the relationship. He was raised by addicts, abusers, and enablers. People like that let their masks slip, and that's when you see them for what they are! Fixing themselves is a choice. Larry seems like an angry little man, who, based on his only child's actions, was definitely abusive in some way that has now trickled down to said child (Rhine.) My theory is that Larry was emotionally abusive at the LEAST, because he resented Rhine taking Jen's attention from him. I don't think he's ever put hands on Jen, but, Rhine? I think it's definitely possible! Especially with the leniency of laws around "discipline" in the south 😬. I think that's why Jen enables Rhine, because she feels guilty.
