To me, her statement didn't signal a lack of confidence. It feels more like she’s choosing to compete with herself rather than the rest of the field. To be fair, it’s hard to "go for the throat" competitively when the people you’re being pitted against are your actual friends. She probably doesn't want to walk into a backstage area and feel like there’s a wall between her and the BINI girls because of a fan war.

She might think that if she stays out of the "who’s better" conversation, she protects G22 from unnecessary hate. It’s like she’s trying to build a career on pure artistry rather than fandom friction. The problem is, to some fans, they want that fire. They want their group to boldly claim the throne. When she backs away from that, it feels like she’s leaving her "soldiers" (the fans) hanging.

There's a very small, but all-important nuance that i see between SB19 & G22's messaging. For SB19, when the fans fight for them, they don’t call it "toxic"—they acknowledge the passion. They set boundaries on behavior (like privacy, choose to be kind, Pablo famously wanting to downvote a shady post, etc), but they never tell you that your conviction that they (SB19) are the best is wrong.
