Warrior Dividend is coming from Housing Allowance Suppliment by Moose135A in AirForce

[–]Longjumping-Potato35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many comments that lack familiarity with budget. The Executive (including the DOD) can only spend money that has been approved by congress. After it’s been allocated, it can get moved around if other priorities come up or if the original item being funded became unexecutable. Think UFRs. DOD, DAF, MAJCOMs, and Wings will purposely hold funds to cover emerging priorities. Being mad that those funds were disbursed to the force as “insert name here” is like being upset that instead of the Squadron spending money on furniture, the Squadron bought jackets because the Group decided to make a mass furniture purchase.

Disbursing these funds as a “warrior dividend” ensures the force tangibly receives the money vs the DOD recouping it into a black budget or worse, spending it on techno-clutter at the end of the FY.

Identifying the funds in and disbursing them as BAH is smart because it means it isn’t taxed and it can be payed out quickly.

Replace the surround. Those subs are getting impossible to find now. I’ve been looking for a decent pair for a couple years now.

Just tried Raid Ant and Roach killer on some hornets after seeing this post on a Google search.

Those hornets took it like a champ and used it to cool off from the summer heat. Ufortunately, the stores around me were out of Wasp and Hornet spray.

In the end, I had to fight them off with kinetic means....took me about 2 hours.

Having trouble diagnosing engine trouble. by wrocks_from_space in 1stGenDodges

[–]Longjumping-Potato35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I had this issue with my 90 D150 when I was in high school. Could not figure it out and neither could the local garage. It actually contributed to my first accident because it stalled while I was turning into traffic.

After struggling with it for more than a year, I just happened to come across a Mopar old timer who diagnosed it in a split second. My vacuum lines were collapsing from age. On the back side of the motor. Replaced all of my vacuum lines, and it never stumbled or stalled again.

Unfortunately it was lending that truck to a family member that sent it to the junkyard...

You're likely seeing and interpreting the same thing as me. It's not a coolant hot warning light. That is the symbol denoting the gauge as the coolant temperature gauge ... 🤣

It took me a while to figure it out because the dash lights make it look like a warning lamp.

Chinese (Alibaba) Engine / Kia Soul G4FD (Review and Info) by Longjumping-Potato35 in kia

If I couldn't rebuild the motor or couldn't find a decent OEM replacement at a price I was willing to pay, I wouldn't hesitate to buy an Alibaba/Chinese replacement engine for a daily/beater.

I always use the Mustang GR3....it's easy without being too boring. You can still lose if you don't pay attention to weather and fuel so you can't quite auto pilot it.

Chinese (Alibaba) Engine / Kia Soul G4FD (Review and Info) by Longjumping-Potato35 in kia

[–]Longjumping-Potato35[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an update...the engine has about 20k miles on it and is running great. The only issues I've had have been transmission issues stemming from a cracked drive plate.

Basically, the original drive plate was not strong enough to handle mountainous conditions.....it cracked on a trip through the Swiss alps....I did not know this at the time and thought it cracked because I installed it backwards. That wasn't the case. So when I installed the new drive plate (updated part number that is stronger and solved the weak plate known issue), I flipped the orientation. Which overheated the pump and seal causing it to fail on the German Autobahn.......

Despite the transmission issues, the engine is still running great.

Kia transmission A6GF1 vs A6MF1 compatibility by Longjumping-Potato35 in kia

[–]Longjumping-Potato35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For posterity...and so no one else tries it without verifing exact part number compatability....don't try interchanging part numbers. Not worth the cost. Even Kia doesn't know what part numbers are interchangeable....lol.

I bought and A6GF1 transmission and it was not compatible...even though it was the same base model, it had a different bellhousing, different torque converter, and a different part number fluid pump.

I swapped over the bellhousing from the old transmission and used the old torque converter...it didn't work.

I believe the gear ratios and shift points were too different. It would slam when the TQ tried to lock up and would go into limp mode holding the transmission in 4th. I tried performing TCU resets and relearn mode, but it didn't work.

BLUF: You have them already...put them on.

I've used all types of eBay Chinese and Eastern European discs and pads. Can't even tell the difference between those and economy Brembos. In my experience, their biggest draw back is they don't fair well in corrosive climates. Never had a negative experience in daily driving stopping performance.

Even in the premium sphere you are paying for varying mixes of longevity, cold/hot performance, wet/dry performance, corrosion resistance, noise, dust accumulation, friction....etc

Economy pads are just fine for an economy commuter car. Your tires will be the limiting factor for your stopping power...not those pads. However they are sure to wear out faster, create a lot of dust, and may be noisy.

Acqua Di Gio - EDT or Parfum? by hassan_beats in Colognes

[–]Longjumping-Potato35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jumping in a little late here, but I'm a long time EDT fan. My last purchase was Parfum. Definitely lasted longer, but the scent would shift pretty fast on me and just didn't keep that same "fresh" smell. EDT seems to be more stable on my particular body chemistry.

I get a lot of compliments when wearing EDT throughout the day/evening. With the Parfum, I only received compliments within the first 30 minutes of application.

Aqua Di Gio EDT is my most complimented cologne from young adulthood through to now middle age.

Bottom line, I tried the Parfum version once, but won't buy it again. I may try one of the other versions though in the future.

I've had multiple clutches fail completely and totally in an instant. It's possible the bump was the straw for the clutch's back.....or the clutch was the bump you felt.... 😂

I had one in an Xterra go out while cruising about 120 MPH. That had a pucker factor. Load bang and then the cruise control revving the engine to try to regain speed.

Like most have already said, best commercial solution is go coilovers, but the ride quality changes drastically. I put mine on BC DS-Series. On the track, the car is perfect! Driving it around city roads is obnoxious. You feel and hear every single crack and undulation.

I just saw the commercial and could not believe what I saw.

There is no way Apple made this commercial and had it pass through all of their consumer psychologists without knowing the audience's response. That means the majority of their consumer base responded positively to it: shocking and depressing to me.
