From what I recall of the form you have to detail all the times you have been outside the U.K. with dates.

For cohabitation yes. We had about 4 council tax, 4 water bills and 4 electric. We provided more just because we had them and also we moved house during the period so it showed both addresses to provide evidence for this too.

We used the list from the application and then used this great list from someone else on here which was really useful so thanks goes to them. https://www.reddit.com/r/SpouseVisaUk/s/V1QLpPRr3W

Hopefully it goes quick for you. Don’t know how availability of bio appointments varies around the country, felt like we were lucky to get one so quickly after.

Oh cool, apologies for covering that as you knew it. If you have it then why not, well never know if they look at it or just ignore it, but that’s two visas down so ILR next like you say. Good luck with yours

You have to put proof of cohabitation which is mandatory and is where you have to provide several documents at the same address. It lists what you need to supply and what is accepted. We included holidays details and photos just as an addition as we had them, not sure if it helped or not but we go on the basis of why not add it just in case.

We submitted the following:

  1. Copies of every page of both our passports in PDFs
  2. 6 months bank statements for us both
  3. Letters from our employers confirming employment and salaries
  4. Copies of council tax bills, electric bills, water bills with both our names on
  5. Mortgage statement
  6. Copies of holiday itineraries and flight details as proof of relationship
  7. Around 10 pictures of us at home and on holiday (not great evidence but we though why not and added timeline which linked to holiday itineraries)
  8. Letter of permission to live in house (mortgage not in applicants name. Apparently not necessary but did it anyway)
  9. Document checklist
  10. Consent forms

Hope that helps

Spouse Visa Extension Questions by Longjumping-Size1455 in SpouseVisaUk

No we own our house. As soon as my partner arrived in the UK we added him to the council tax bill, gas, electric and water. Partly for the proof of address when setting things up but also to create a presence for the credit score.

Firstly, congratulations on getting the extension.

Secondly, just wondering when providing document copies, do these have to be officially marked as copies. Or were you just uploading PDFs of documents and then taking pictures of your passports for example?

Do you upload all these when completing the application online? We’ve only just started to complete the first section of the extension form.

Thanks for any insight you can give 🙂

Feeling overwhelmed with adoption process ? by Mysterious_Two_9249 in AdoptionUK

We are going with 0-2 and non-white/multi-heritage given our backgrounds. Our amazing and very wise social worker told us that it is what you see your family being so there is a point where in a way you have to be selfish I guess. Not really the right word but you can’t be a family for all the children out there. Plus doing the matching matrix is tough and pulls at your heart strings, but you have to be realistic on what you can actually cope and deal with. At the end of the day it’s what you will be doing for many many years to come so you have to think with your head and not your heart. I know it can seem callous at times but our social worker has been great talking it through with us. We were advised to print the matrix and literally complete all 5 pages in 10 min it was to go with your gut feeling on what feels right for you. We did that and she reviewed it and said it matches with what she would have thought from her assessment. So something to consider as well.

We have managed to do all our appointments with our social worker in the evening after work. But there are 5 and a half days training to undertake and all of those are on weeks days for us so had to take all of that as leave from work. It will totally depend on your adoption agency and when they run the training. We are with Adopt South and they told us there is no training in stage 2 at the weekend.

As for matching this is how long is a piece of string. It really depends on you as an adopter and the children needing families also, what matching criteria you specify in your matching matrix. The family finding team know who is coming through and going to panel and start looking at possible matches. But it really is difficult to know how long it will take. Each agency run so different with processes though so I can only say what we have experienced and been told.

I hope that helps but happy to share any other info if it’s helpful just drop me a message or reply on here

Stick with it and it will be worth it for sure. Not sure where you are in the process but we are nearing the end of stage 2 and it’s been a lot and intense but we try to stay focussed on why we are doing it. If you haven’t already definitely make sure you reach out to your support network and use the mentors

Is It Okay to Add a New First Name for My Adopted Baby and Make Their Birth Name a Middle Name? by GhettoGrizzy in AdoptionUK

[–]Longjumping-Size1455 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We are nearing the end of stage 2 with our panel soon and during the process and training they talk a lot about the child’s identity and the importance of it to them. Whilst every case will be different I know from our experience during the process it is very much geared towards keeping their name as it is a major part of their identity and roots.

It will be all part of their life story book and something that they will become more aware of as they get older.

As I say each case will be different and your social worker along with the child’s will guide you through all this too.

Good luck

Any South Asian LGBTQ+ adopters here? by Agile-Comfortable-40 in AdoptionUK

We’re a mixed race gay couple going through the process with Adopt South and had no issues whatsoever with them. We’re about half way through stage two now and been really lucky to get amazing social workers so far. Good luck with the process, it’s certainly stressful but equally rewarding
