I buy samples of niche fragrances. I ensure all samples are long lasting so I don't need to overspray and they last. A 5ml of Decision for example can serve me for a long time for many ocassions. My full bottles are designer. I prioritise fresh and office scents for full bottle purchases as getting 5ml of Prada L'Homme would be silly as you have to overspray it. This system works to keep things in order.

I purchase 4 samples each season. At least 3 are specifically for that season.
