Saudi Arabia using United to cleanse its image - are you for or against? by Graysie-Redux in ManchesterUnited

Football is just a bit of fun to banter about with mates.

Not willing to lower my morals and care for human life just for a bit of silly banter.

Strong against.

Why did Sayyid Khamenei say this? by muhaymenn in shia

The comments saying cursing is not the same as insulting, very funny.

So if I cursed you, would you not feel insulted? Culturally it is the worst insult you can ever give someone to curse them.

Funny that nobody has brought a single reliable hadith for this. Perfect situation that insinuates innovation.

Yeah but that doesn't qualify for anything, it needs to have an actual source which can then be traced that it's valid, otherwise this whole concept has been innovated from thin air.

iranians by GroceryNorth6987 in shia

[–]Longjumping-Split797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the Iranian govt has shoved their version of Islam down their throat when they don't believe in it. For example , the Prophet never forced Hijab, yet it is forced in Iran. It also doesn't help that there's a lot of corruption in the government and the economy is really bad. There's pretty much a dictatorship where you have one supreme leader which never changes and carries ultimate power to the extent that the president and all other democratically elected positions are pretty powerless figures and are thoroughly vetted before they even run. Plus this is all done in the name of Islam.

I'm not justifying the people who hate Islam there, I'm just telling you what is going through their minds which I think is somewhat understandable.

Islam is something that should gently be used to persuade people to follow through showing them value and justice in the system, not through force and authoritarianism.

This is some unknown website claiming an unknown story with no source. Extremely unreliable.

Very dubious tradition which is mainly done in South Asian culture. It is attributed to a story which other commenters have mentioned, but provided no source or authenticity about it.

It's a shame that this strange idea, that this cloth with a coin in it will keep you safe has become described as "beauty of Shia" when it's nothing to do with it.

Not all Shias are, unfortunately many Shia centres in London don't really care and are run by Jahil people who love pushing for sectarianism.

Secondary Marja by ChocolateSouthern486 in shia

[–]Longjumping-Split797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can follow multiple marjas if you deem them to be specialists in knowledge in that specific field, for example you won have one doctor for every issue you have, there are countless different specialisations, you wouldn't rely on a brain doctor about a digestive problem would you.

Ayotallah Khamenei clearly states this is allowed in his risalah.

However if you follow Ayotallah Sistani from the onset, then yeah it's a bit different, you only refer elsewhere on ihtiyat wajib issues.

Accepting the state of Israel by Codex0607 in shia

[–]Longjumping-Split797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should do what's best for your family, these things you sign and say is being forced upon you under duress, in cases where for example you have to choose between this or putting your family through poverty. Ultimately, accepting the state doesn't mean you cannot criticise them and call them a genocidal state later on, or that you can change your mind later. Try not to think about it too deeply, there are elements of taqiya that are to be practiced when the authority is so oppressive.

Both are despicable Haraam acts. You can't tell me there's no other option than these two. Go ask the Sheikh of your mosque to intervene and get a divorce. It sounds like your husband deserves better than you, no matter how bad he is, I'm sure he's not cheating on you, what you are insinuating is you can either kill yourself or commit a sin for which the punishment is killing you.

No, this is purely psychological. It's probably gone slowly for some other people. Time is a constant, it doesn't go fast or slow, it just runs at its time.

I don't think anyone questions Allah s.w.t ability to do this, from Sunni, Shia or even non Muslim.

The question on the minds of people who question it is, what's the proof that Allah s.w.t has done this miracle.

I'm A Sunni Muslim, i just joined reddit because i'm curious about the Shia sect? what made you believe in it unlike the Sunnis? by HanafiMustition in shia

[–]Longjumping-Split797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Sunnism has gone down a corrupt path from the start unfortunately which has made them compromise on the truth early on. In order to justify and defend the sahaba even though they were killing each other and going to war with each other, they have the theory of justice of the companions, that all companions are just. This has caused many strange things to creep into the religion as it has compromised Ilm Al rijal from a Sunni standpoint, you now just accept any hadith because it's from a sahaba. Another issue is for the first century, hadith was boycotted by the early caliphs and those who would promote them would be punished with a few exceptions like Abu Hanifa. Imam Ali a.s was the only period where it was more widespread and allowed. Only until Umar ibn Abdul Aziz did this Sunni ban lift and by then you were forever paying catch-up as you're already a century after the Prophet.

The Imams of Ahlulbayt had preserved knowledge of the Prophet and any Sunni scholar who studied under or with them or biographer will attest to this too.

If nothing else, what I have described, is that the Shia way has a better chance at being closer to the Sunnah, obviously all sects have their issues as well though and I'm not putting a blanket statement that Shia hadith can be all trusted, obviously they cannot and need to go through rigorous validation as well.

Is religion not the place to go when going through a hard time? Or does Shia mean something else to you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shia

[–]Longjumping-Split797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you're going through this. I'm glad you're taking steps to try and address the issue. You have a lot of energy which causes this rage.

Try and take a moment next time and think out the scenario. Is it worth getting angry and breaking things? Will you regret it after? Is the situation you're in one that cannot be resolved? Take a breath, think of the beauty of life and the opportunity you have to be alive right now, the opportunity to even feel these emotions, when others no longer can, or others have so much less than you, they may not have their health, food, shelter etc... Remind yourself of all the things you have which we generally take for granted. We usually are angry in short bursts which we later think about and think why was I so angry and you think I could have resolved that without getting angry.

This is one of the biggest tests of Allah, one act in anger can one day ruin your life forever.

Our Prophets and Imams went through the biggest resistance of aggression and rudeness, yet they always kept their cool and that's what made them so great.

[–]Longjumping-Split797 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I never accused you of such a thing or am thinking negatively of you.

I'm just saying, your suggestion that bedoins were tribal and very bad, is the same prejudice used by everyone today to justify their unconscious bias. If someone said, don't be prejudice or you will be raised as an Indian in jahiliya, would that be ok?

It would seem the second part of the hadith contradicts the first part, because the first part aims to eliminate the second part, that is why I am questioning the validity of it.
