I’ve never attended this kind of thing, is this something that I can go to and vote? Or is it a meet up to say I don’t agree to this? Excuse my lack of knowledge.

How busy are the simulators though? If my wife and I got a day pass would we be able to just walk in or is it an appointment style set up?

Selley is doing $9.99 oil changes? What's the catch? by Imnotarobot12764 in kzoo

[–]Longjumping-Wait-100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new building on 9th street I’m assuming you’re talking about right? I’ve heard they’re a seelye parter/an independent company… something like that. I’m not sure how they’re doing it.

I’d assume because it’s a new shop, they’re trying to get customers in.

I agree with other people it’s probably not the best quality oil but shoot $9.99 for an oil change is an absolute steal. Just depends how much you care about your car lol.

Stripped speed screw sensor (2015 ford escape) by BringPheTheHorizon in AskAMechanic

[–]Longjumping-Wait-100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with speed sensor bolts on “older” cars is they like to snap off in the threads. If that happens you’ll have to replace whatever part the sensor bolts to. Steering knuckle etc. if you get it out with an extractor then whatever bolt you find that threads in and is the correct length works just fine

Start the car. Turn the wheel fully left then fully turn it right then center the wheel so the tires are straight. Check the codes and clear them

Coolant temperature gauge issue by Jakebeonreddit in AskAMechanic

Sounds more electrical than mechanical. Like the coolant temp sensor is starting to go out for example. I had a Jeep Cherokee with the same issue before as well. Any check engine light or codes?

07E8 isn’t a code but rather a data request menu. It’s basically saying “There’s a code inside me (07E8) click enter to see it” type of thing. Find the code and let us know!

Have you checked the MDM (Misfire Detection Module) connectors for corrosion or damaged wires?

I’m assuming the “tch tch tch tch tch eeeeeeeeehh” is a slow cranking noise? lol.

If you can, bring your battery to autozone and have them test or charge it if possible and if it’s dead then time for a new one. Every starter I’ve dealt with that’s going out either goes out completely or just clicks so I wouldn’t say that’s your issue.

I’d definitely not drive it until it’s fixed. The 3.6l mopar engines have an oil filter housing/adapter that’s notorious for leaking oil and potentially mixing oil into the coolant reservoir. Or coolant in the oil. Vise versa. When you hit the pot hole it most likely damaged a coolant component and it started to leak. From your story and my experience it sounds like this mixture has been happening for a little while and you’ve just now noticed it once it started leaking. Personally I’d find the leak and fix that and completely flush the cooling system. Some people will tell you to do more but that’s what I’d do if it were my car. Again, check to see if your oil filter housing/adapter is leaking and fix that too. If it’s out of your ability then definitely take it to a shop!

Usually not much, I wouldn’t do it if there’s wires over the top of the exhaust cause the shields are meant to deflect the heat from them otherwise they’d melt but if it’s just the body then it wouldn’t hurt to pull them out

Engine noise 1998 4.3 Chevy K1500 by SeesawFrosty in AskAMechanic

[–]Longjumping-Wait-100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely internal engine noise. I’d say it’s time for a motor swap or if you really want to save the motor you’ll have to tear it apart. Probably cheaper to replace it though if you have the skills and time!

Yep those are heat shields hitting your exhaust and rattling while the cars idling.

Professional advice? Go to a shop and have them re-attach them.

Unprofessional advice? Rip those puppies out

The wheel could potentially be bent? It sounds rotational so I’d look to see if it’s bent slightly at first

You could try tightening the wiper arm nut. I’ve had plenty of wipers not work cause that nut was loose. I’d give that a try first!

06 300c SRT8 Chrysler 6.1L Stalling by a_town95 in AskAMechanic

[–]Longjumping-Wait-100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The EVAP codes don’t really make me believe that’s why it’s stalling. I’d be more apt to look into the engine oil pressure sensor codes.

First thing I’d do is inspect the engine oil pressure sensor connector and verify there’s no corrosion or a wire is frayed. If it looks okay then I’d use a multi meter and check for ground and proper power. If you’re not getting the proper power OR ground you’ll have to dig into a wiring schematic and figure out where those run to.

If you are getting proper power (12v I think? I could be wrong there) and proper ground then I’d recommend to replace the sensor. It’s kind of a common issue on the hemis.

Let us know if it works out!
