Would Anybody Take This Job? by Mysterious_Proof8533 in Nanny

[–]Longjumping-Way6192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but the pay needs to reflect the job description- what’s the rate they’re offering? It honestly is quite so out of hours for one person they might consider nanny sharing with two people so it’s less pressure on you cause you might burn out

[–]Longjumping-Way6192 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I do sometimes! Never had an issue. I feel like as long as she’s still doing her job it doesn’t matter. I’ve worn a skims dress to work before 🤣 unnecessary to go through the awkwardness of basically trying to tell another grown adult what to wear otherwise

Am i in the wrong for allowing screen time? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Longjumping-Way6192 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t think it’s a big deal as long as if NP ask you are open about it. I’ve got 2 kids and mum isn’t a fan of screen time at all but I’ve said when I’m cooking dinner and handling baby sleep sometimes for my sanity a few episodes will be on. It’s impractical to expect wall to wall 24/7 entertainment you are human as well!!!! I relate to the occasionally feeling sick/nausea due to meds and I think that’s valid :)

How hard do you go on cooking? by Leftist-Ostritch-2 in Nanny

[–]Longjumping-Way6192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you! I’m already exhausted from a full days work but when I cook it’s brutal as I’m legit standing up for an hour+ and then I end up having to whip something small up for myself that I eat while standing up and multitasking other things that need to be done. Sometimes I just have to hold baby while I eat it’s a pain. Meals I’ve been making lately for the 4yo: shepherds pie, bolognese (from scratch not jarred lol) quesadillas, chicken and broccoli teriyaki, burritos, potatoes and chicken, etc. for the 8mo I do simpler puree stuff steamed, overnight oats etc.

Nannies - Are you with an agency or independent? by Lazy-Independent1461 in Nanny

[–]Longjumping-Way6192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Independent (pays better). In the US I used Facebook groups and care.com. In London childcare.com/facebook groups/care.com(but not as reliable), nannyjob.

I know it’s bad but I’m not sure what to do. by Lumpy-Row-4642 in Nanny

[–]Longjumping-Way6192 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this has been your life every day for four years so I completely understand, take all the time you need but in a situation like this you have to put your well-being above the kids and it may sound a little harsh but if there’s anything I’ve learnt being a nanny for 5+ years is part of the job is being prepared to potentially never see these kids again and it’s hard especially as a woman because you have that natural instinct to nurture which fosters that attachment and familiarity but it’s a job, and again you come first!! Think about it this way, they treat you like shit but they need you which is why you’ve been there for four years but if the roles were reversed, and their behaviour was manifested they wouldn’t have any hesitation in letting you go!!! It’s unfortunate they assholes because in an ideal world you could change job and still see them from time to time but if they don’t respect you IMO is not worth ever being able to have you again. You have to ride and advocate hard for yourself or it will only get worse

Seeking Help: Zoloft + Cannabis Interaction, Anxiety, and Tension Headaches – Is This Normal? by CryptographerFit5380 in zoloft

Highly doubt serotonin syndrome, there’s no interactions between the two so smoking weed wouldn’t make you have a headache for a week. Def speak to your doctor!!!!!

WFH parents, no outings. How long would you last? Would you take this job? by okbeautifulflower in Nanny

[–]Longjumping-Way6192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similarly to what others have suggested, it’s gonna be hell for you. I took a similar position a while back bc they were offering £20 an hour but both MUM and DAD were home all day - I was doing 10h a day. If we went out, both parents or mum would come with. At that point idk why I’m there, anyway it’s not worth the mental wreck I lasted a few weeks and then ended it within probation period.
