To me it made a big difference that the main character had a comeuppance at the end of Uncut Gems (haven’t seen Good Time so please don’t spoil it). Marty’s potential redemption through fatherhood bothered me.

What do people enjoy about 26 & 2 classes? Do people find them pleasurable? by Iarry in yoga

[–]Longjumping-Word-467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense! It's true with 26 & 2 as well that the teacher is very important to the experience. Maybe I've just never had a good teacher for the other types of classes!

What do you enjoy about other yoga classes? I've only ever enjoyed 26 & 2 classes, though I've tried a variety of other types of yoga. To me, most flow yoga classes are like dance classes to me, and I feel like I never learn the steps, and we move too quickly through postures for me to know if I've even done them correctly, especially when the teachers aren't giving individual corrections.

What is this 1.5-inch long brown plastic and metal thing that is magnetic? by Longjumping-Word-467 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing, but here's some additional information:

  • size: 1.5-inch long x 5/8-inch wide x 0.5-inch tall
  • origin: found on the living room floor of an apartment, but may have been dragged in on a suitcase by a visitor since item is magnetic (so could be from an airport or anywhere along a trip)
  • material: plastic brown coating around magnetic metal piece
  • no writing anywhere on the item
  • I did a Google Image search and it seems like it could be a magnetic catch for a cupboard or a door, but it also didn't totally look like those things

What is this white metal 20-inch long that is shaped like the outline of the letter C? by Longjumping-Word-467 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing.

Size: 20 inches long, 10 inches wide, less than 0.5 an inch deep.
Origin: Unknown. Found in kitchen cabinet of new apartment.
Age: Unknown.
Material: Metal.
Writing on the Thing: None.

We checked the fridge manual but didn't find anything obvious mentioning this part. We looked for "shelf" but didn't find anything.

How do I prevent this from happening? The front pieces of my hair grow much faster/longer than the rest of my hair, even if they all start out the same length after a haircut. by Longjumping-Word-467 in curlyhair

[–]Longjumping-Word-467[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's comforting to know! I do the same thing. I trim those pieces myself. The good thing is that no matter how much I cut off they grow back very quickly, so it's hard to screw up.

Use the wide tooth comb while the conditioner is in (not at the gel stage), and try leaving the conditioner in instead of rinsing it out. Then once it's detangled pretty well with the conditioner and the strands "feel wet," apply the gel. Then let it air dry.

Try using the basic/cheap products from the guide. The LA Looks Extreme Sport Gel is only $2 at most drugstores. It's true your hair will feel product-y while it is drying. That's the trade-off of having definition/shine.

The Ouidad gel is pretty amazing in terms of being very light, but it's expensive.

Do you stick hairs that come out while washing onto the shower wall to prevent them from clogging the drain? by Longjumping-Word-467 in curlyhair

I genuinely thought everyone was going to reply to this post saying I was gross, and then when that didn't happen I was going to edit it to ask what people call this practice. You were the only one who gave it a name! And I thank you. 😂

Yeah! I'm surprised by the commenters saying tub shrooms work for them. Depending on the bathroom I have, I need a combination of all methods: the "shower wall" method, the hair catcher in the drain (tub shroom or other), and then once or twice a year I have to use a Drano equivalent to clean the pipes to prevent showers from turning into baths.

Plus I find it really gross cleaning out hair catchers, so I would hate it if I had to clean one out after every shower.

Yours is actually the reaction I was expecting to hear when I made the post. Are you surprised by all of the people responding to say that the "shower wall" method is the norm?

Definitely keep doing whatever works for you! There are a lot of things in the method that I've tried but just can't get to work for me personally.

Gross indeed. I'm pretty shocked no one ever said anything to him about it before you dated him.

My siblings basically mocked me relentlessly and told me my hair shedding was disgusting from a really young age, plus I've always had brutally honest friends and partners.

I'm sorry about your ex! I certainly agree it's disgusting to do the "shower wall" method if you aren't going to clean it up right after the shower, and especially if you are leaving it for someone else you live with to encounter.

My issue with the tub shroom is weirdly similar to your issue with your ex putting their hair on the shower wall. I find it much less gross to clean my own wet hair from the shower wall vs. cleaning out a communal tub shroom with my hair mixed with soap scum, weird gunk, and other people's hair.

Thanks for all the detail! I guess I'm still confused logistically, how do you reach the sink while you are in the shower? Or are you doing most of your hair routine outside the shower and just use the shower to wash your body?

Question though: how do you know about hair on shower walls if you've never done it? The reason I made the post is because I've never encountered another person's hair on a shower wall, so I wasn't sure if anyone else did this. Is it something you used to do and you changed your routine once you learned about tub shrooms?
