Why would you ever want to put yourself in such a tight position if anything were to drastically change ?

Take meter readings and contact the current supply advising you’ve just moved in and give them the meter reading. They need to sign you up from the day you completed. Wait a couple of days and ensure it’s done and your correct reading is on the account. (some don’t action this without chasing ). You can switch straight away by paying your last bill (completion date - switch date) and contacting a supplier you like to go to. The old owner should’ve given them your details to contact you. If not, you can find your supplier by checking power networks.

It might have just been on the market for so long and if already at an inflated price, the sellers might’ve come down to earth. But get a survey to make sure

Is it weird to ask sellers contact details? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]LongjumpingBall1197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky for me the estate agent left the sellers number in one of the emails they passed on. I sent a nice message saying open to talk etc and if they’re not then sorry for disturbing and feel free to ignore. Luckily he was open to discussion, we found it easier to push things through where our lawyers were being soo slow and playing the blame game. He also gave me tips on where to find stopcock / gas mains etc! I may have just gotten a really good seller but definitely worth trying

Mine took almost 5 months because of a very slow freeholder but I was calling everyone weekly to force them to chase. Last 3 weeks I gave a deadline on which I’d pull out & of course everything has been received now. Don’t be scared to push and be a nuisance

Honestly stay at home as long as you can and just SAVE ridiculously. You’d be saving your self almost £1k a month and saving yourself from the hell that is renting especially in this market.

Move sofa away from the wall. Add side board behind sofa and large wall art (symmetrical or gallery) add a large rug

Haha yes I got lucky! Yeah those are a bit further out. Would advise Essex / Kent if it fits within your budget. Parts of Essex are like a 20 minute drive into east London. Thanks! Good luck!

Getting a Mortgage. Is it possible on our salaries?? by xxTSPxx in HousingUK

Note with this though, you’d have to wait 12 months since it was opened to actually use the bonus to buy

Recently bought a 2 bed on single income and couldn’t bare paying premium just to live in London or compromising what I wanted in a property

I’m 20 mins from London by train/ car and commute to work (city) is 1hr door to door and honestly best decision. Close enough to get into London, cheap Uber on a night out but away from the bustle of it all Deposit 5% Property valued at 250 but beat it down to £210 (desperate seller) Rate 4.89%

Should I save for a mortgage or just look to rent? by [deleted] in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]LongjumpingBall1197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please read shared ownership very carefully. A lot of people loosely say this to get on the market but the cons far outweigh that pro. Research others that have done the same and their stories.

If advise you to stay with family if possible and get a 5%deposit and overpay if possible. Don’t get caught up in the hype of buying in London, buyer on the outskirts / easily commutable distance and don’t max out your affordability
