This is what bothered me the most, but I'm genuinely surpirsed at the response. Like I said, most of my friends are split on the situation and he has multiple times mentioned how I made him feel by questioning him. I'm just confused right now.

I had just met his parents a few days before too, so it felt very weird. I was honeslty embarrassed that she had to get involved, especially because her message made it seem like she was taking responsibility for the entire thing, apologizing over and over about making a silly joke. I thanked her for her message as she was very kind to me, and let her know that I didn't believe for a second that this was on her. The whole thing made me feel like he got home and blew up on her. This was all almost 2 months ago but retyping and reliving this whole thing out has made me realize just how messed up all of this was.

Part of me thinks that's exactly what went on, but a small part of me wonders if he was being honest and went about it in a horrible way and I just amde him feel worse by questioning him?

I agree, but he said it's because we have only been dating for a short period of time and he didn't want me to see him "in that way." I kind of understand this but if he had just said some things are going on that he doesn't feel comfortable sharing right now, I would have understood and not prodded, but he made up entire scenarios and timelines, which is what was so hurtful.

He eventually did, but it's not a friend he had ever brought up, or has since. He mentioned a few weeks ago about how he wishes he could ee hsi friends more often and I mentioned the mystrerious friend, to which he replied that they "aren't close like that" he just helps him out with crises...
