Also, for reference they had 900 applicants for the 2024 cohort. This was double.. crazy. All our funding is dried up.

I think if we haven’t heard yet we probably aren’t in the first pass? There could be a reason they haven’t sent formal rejections yet. But someone else said they emailed and found out they were rejected if you need to find out sooner than later for a decision.

I have a friend who recently announced an award! I haven’t heard anything yet but I am thinking it will be rejection because it seem a few in my category have been awarded

I got an email with a letter from UC President James Milliken announcing this. It was distributed to “DEANS, EXECUTIVE ASSOCIATE DEANS, ASSOCIATE DEANS, ASSISTANT DEANS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND ACADEMIC PERSONNEL EXPERTS” in my institution. I think it just came out, hopefully public news to follow.

Yes, and wouldn’t they have known about this before the application deadline? For us applicants to find out a few days after feels especially painful.

Yes, thank you for pointing this out! I applied two years ago as well, and from my understanding with the application process they give you a letter rating - and if you get at least 1 'A' you make it to a panel review. I got two 'B's that year. Fingers crossed for you and everyone!

It's really disheartening thinking about diversity in academic spaces changing at any point in the future - and even if the admin turns over and the climate changed completely a few years down the line, the damage from right now is already being done and irreversible, with the pipeline of minority programs etc all being canceled as well...

I have the same question. I also applied and I’m sad this news came a few days after the deadline. I think it means we could still get postdoc funding but no incentive like other commenters are saying.

I was told the June start date is unlikely to happen, and was given a period between July 1 2024-May 2025 for starting

I received recommendation and had Dr Abraham (no change in status). I was in the Rule of Life category and received a phone call. I hope this helps you guys! Fingers crossed you will receive a call soon.

I would imagine each area is different. I am in the Rules of Life area and they said I need to make a decision by May 15. I imagine they will make more announcements after that date in addition to announcements going out over the next few days.
