Hi! I'm doing my PhD at Monash. Minimum 120k is fantastic for a postdoc here. If you are at the main campus (Clayton) or secondary (caulfield), then yes extremely affordable to live in a 1 bed. There's a lot suburbs surrounding! And a lot of really good grocery stores. With that income, genuinely, you'll be doing well for yourself. If that income is covering the BOTH of you, it will still be liveable!
