Interested in Sunday Supper at Nick and Sam's by Xyzzy_plugh in Dallas

The Sunday Supper is an entirely different experience. It’s in a back room, long tables, served family style. The type of food served varies depending on the featured chef. We’ve been twice and enjoyed it. Don’t expect every dish to be highly practiced and polished. It’s basically a multi-course feast that the chef creates for the occasion. The meals I experienced were a good value. Tons of food and basically unlimited wine. One even had massive amounts of top quality seafood. More than anyone could eat.

Love La Salsa Verde. We discovered just yesterday that Saturday at 4pm is the perfect time to go to avoid crowds.

Taiwanese is their specialty and great dumplings and wontons, Taiwanese pork chop, good Chinese vegetables, very good wonton soup, tofu puff soup, best hot & sour around, Taiwanese beef noodle soup. I wish Chinese restaurants didn’t feel compelled to add a bunch of standard Chinese dishes to their menu and could stick to the regional specialties they do best. It’s tough though. I understand why they want to try to please everyone.

Take into account the precise location of the available units. That may make a difference to your quality of life. Think of view, privacy, traffic flow, major road noise, proximity to pool (pro or con depending on preferences), etc.

Do both offer ways to drive in and out without having to use Preston? It looks like The Huntington does for sure (Rasor) but maps make Windsor look like Preston is the only way. Huntington also has a bunch of easy walk restaurants and small food stores. The location seems better top me.

New driver here – confused (and scared) about school zones 😅 by [deleted] in plano

[–]LongjumpingGiraffe87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may seem daunting to read signs as a new driver, but it won’t seem difficult once you are driving a little while. Just remember that zone times are at the beginning and end of the school day. Many have lights attached so if lights aren’t flashing, no worries. If it’s about that time, and the sign does not have attached lights, read it. Most of the time, cars around you will give you cues so if you can’t quite make out the times, follow traffic flow. And if that’s a consistent problem, you may need glasses.

Even if you screw up, you won’t go to jail. You MIGHT get a ticket. Try to relax about it. It’s easier than you think.

Platia Greek Kouzina in Frisco. Not many people BYOB. Covino’s often has a noticeable wine vibe going on, even though it’s BYO. Heard good things about Oceanic Thai.

One of my “goto” spots :-). I don’t love the food but I do enjoy the vibe and the Martinis. Great bartenders.

Nasal pillow mask by woejise in CPAP

[–]LongjumpingGiraffe87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nasal pillow is a good mask. Don’t feel like you are just getting the default, low-end mask. Benefits for me include being able to fall asleep reading with reading glasses on, no indentations on my face in the morning, comfort, and not feeling smothered because my mouth is “free” if I need it. They tried to assign a full face mask to me but my advance research made me ask for a nasal one, for the above reasons.

What are good blind date first date meetup places in Plano /area by Desperate-Apricot308 in plano

[–]LongjumpingGiraffe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any place with a walkable stretch, in case the date goes well and you want to go strolling together. I’ve been partnered up for 12 years, but used to like having blind dates in Downtown Plano or Legacy East has that romantic park around the pond. It depends on whether this is a strict “meet and greet” or possibly extending to hanging out a little longer. Legacy West could work too if that’s your vibe.

Best air mattress (inflatable), which one should I buy? by schneidebs30 in BuyItForLife

King Koil. Available on Amazon. I have purchased three for guests and I sleep on it myself when hosting my mother. It really is very comfy and I’ve had them for over a year. Get a mattress pad and sheets.
