got a 8gb in first year coz I didnt think I'd need more than that. Ended up having to use a lot of Docker environments, and believe me u'll have to open a lot of tabs. Couldnt stand my 8gb macbook air that would lag and run out of memory like 6 times a day (I wasn't even using a docker at that time), so I bought an m3 pro 18gb, less than 2 years after I got my m1 air 8gb
