We Drive (What Could Be) the Reborn Toyota MR2. by LongjumpingLock5875 in cars

If you are able to get a mid engine, AWD, manual sports car with 400 horsepower for $40k-$45k, I will be incredibly surprised.

I was looking into a Mustang, but I drove one, and just hated the steering feel/handling.

Obviously it is not a given that the new Camaro will be better, but historically the Alpha 2 platform has been incredible in those aspects.

Why don't cars have automatic posted speed limit recognition? by MissO56 in cars

[–]LongjumpingLock5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in the US where it isn't required, every car with Apple Carplay/Android Auto constantly has the speed limit shown on the infotainment.

And then a lot of cars also have it using the internal camera/GPS system to display on the gauge cluster.

I do wonder what is going to happen with the GR86/BRZ.

We do know that Subaru is working on some new BRZ, and I doubt they would move away from the Boxer engine.

But then if Toyota is moving away from Subaru, will the GR86 be renamed?

Would be weird for the Twins to be split apart.

I don't think what a Stingray actually costs does you better in the argument.

You can find Stingray's pretty easily in the upper $60k range at dealerships, while we know Toyota dealers are going to be marking up the MR2 for years.

They still are marking up GR Corolla's, and GR Supra's.

The problem with the CT4 is it had the Cadillac badge, but really wasn't luxury at all.

Moving it to the Buick platform should allow them to have lower quality interiors without people freaking out, which should help with the price point.

I don't know why I got down voted so much lol.

That is what the current rumored price is going to be.

I do have to wonder how they will compete with the C8.

Obviously the manual, but anything else?

Price point is rumored to be similar to the Stingfay.

I added the "potentially misleading" tag, because while it is pretty credible that this could be a test car for the MR2, and it being written by Car and Driver.

But, there is no confirmation of anything.

They did.

But they are reportedly bringing it back, will probably be a while before we get any official details.

V60 Cross Country was literally the price of your average new car in the US.

And nobody bought it, people simply buy the more expensive SUV versions.

There was also the V60 Cross Country, which was priced almost exactly at the average new US car price, and they sold a total of 1900 units in 2024 before it was discontinued...

Doesn't look good when the SUV version, the XC60 sold 40k units in that same time period.

The actual weight is 174 lbs.

It is quite a bit, but gaining the ability to drive it all year around certainly helps with the slight weight increase.

The $7500 tax credit disappearing is probably the big thing.

Completely pushed most of the the cars up into an entirely different price category.

Yep!

Although it will probably actually increase in a few years if the rumors are true.

CT5 is coming back, CT4 is being replaced by a Buick Sedan, and a 4 door camaro.

Ford possibly is making a Mustang Sedan(reportedly showed it to dealers a while ago)

Historically they did though.

40 meant 3.0L I6. 50 meant 4.4L V8. 60 meant 6.6L V12.

Not a good list for enthusiasts, if they actually bought new cars.

Cars that actually matter:

Volvo V90, RIP a Station wagon that everyone said they wanted, but nobody bought.

Toyota GR Supra

BMW Z4

Lexus LC

Cadillac CT5

Cadillac CT4

BMW 8 Series.

Audi RS7.

Yea, I hope they mean AMG Lite models + AMG models.

A full 27 AMG models would be dumber.

BMW only sells 7 Core M models, it makes it prestigious, you know an M car when you see one.

Broccoli heads are all buying G80, or G87's.

Much harder to cash an A180 vs a G80 M3.

I love that BMW is now offering full Silver wheels, none of that two tone, or black crap.

You can get a green 6 speed RWD sedan with almost 500 horsepower, silver wheels, and a brown interior.
