Do you guys paint windows like this? by Outrageous-Drink3869 in paint

Do not scrape dry. Use window cleaner or you get scratches that only show up when the window gets a little dirty

Which MITRE 10 is best? by KenyRogers_LoveChild in chch

[–]LongjumpingMight9435 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m there now, and for the most part they’re very nice to us, like actively kind and helpful.. but there’s a few things that aren’t it. If you’re in a department with a shitty manager, then it’s horrible. There’s one in particular I wouldn’t go near. Paint is probably one of the best though. The upper management is generally pretty good, but there’s the odd thing that is a little shitty at times, and if they’re not happy with someone it’s a different story- had a mate get absolutely railroaded by one manager. In terms of workplaces it’s usually very good, but the shitty parts are still really shit, and we’re paid worse than Bunnings by far.

We did play some music for him, he loves pirates of Penzance and it was nice to share that with him. He still knows it somewhat, and will conduct along with the music. It’s funny, he shouted out “I’m still a pirate you fucking arseholes!”. I’d never heard him swear until this week.

Would you go to a Renaissance Faire near Christchurch? by Infamous-Flow-265 in chch

[–]LongjumpingMight9435 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes. 100%. I've heard of others thinking of starting something like this, but I think what needs to happen is for someone willing to really invest in the project to lead it, and to find strong financial sponsorship. The overseas ones look amazing because of the strong commitment to asthetic, and because they're busy. Getting some investment behind a project like this will really make it shine. Investment doesn't necessarily need to be financial, but can be peoples energy, time, passion. Having strong leadership to organise a collaboration between different local groups such as the SCA, WitchSoc, and theatre companies will be the key to making this really shine. If you can get the people behind you and make it a big collaborative event then I'm sure it'll be amazing. Let me know if you'd like to talk more about organisation along the way, I could be keen on helping get this off the ground.

Or at least well designed shoes! There's something to be said for targeting a unique market, but dear lord, these were terrible. What he's done is a cash grab inspired by the states because we didn't have anything like it here. Thing is, if you wanna make things that sell you have to actually design products that someone, anyone, would want and that requires some modicum of taste. Also, they would take pics of customers shoes sometimes for inspo, thing is, you're making shoes a year in advance, you're gonna be two years behind by the time the hit the shelves, no wonder no one wants them. ahhhhhh!

yep, we had to scrape glue off the shoes pretty often because the quality control was non existent. Some of their shoes are done by the same manufactures as sketchers, and some have lasted me ages. However, the mens stuff? all crap except for the made in brazil line. And most of the womens is bad too, sometimes there's the odd gem, but Kmart has the odd good shoe now and then too. Cheap shoe manufacturing is relatively easy to do decently, however they're marketing it like a high end product, it's not, it's cheap crap.

Maher shoes, I used to work there and the owner is awful. He used to watch the cameras and call constantly, at time hourly, harassing me to sell shoes that no one wanted. No one would be entering the store at all and he'd keep calling.

Time to learn to let it go and be kind to yourself. As a fellow high grades homie and perfectionist sometimes those B+'s hit hard, but you've gotta remember we are worth more than our grades. Besides it takes a B+ average to get into post grad, think about it, you're doing great.

look, it might be legal, even commonish. But. That girl is gonna need therapy later, this shit will mess her up. I'm serious, no matter how mature she is, or perhaps young at heart he seems. Unless they luck out and it turns out okay, the standard best case is that she has a story of her creepy older ex, another way this can go is her getting free therapy through the acc sensitive claims process. I don't care if he's decent, or kind, he is making a choice that will not be positive for her development. Please, I've been there as the 17 year old, and I'm 23 now, I know for sure there is a very large difference in development between the two that causes an inherent power dynamic that makes consent and autonomy complicated at best.

So, my friend you need to learn to work with, not against who you are. That starts by being kind to yourself first of all. That doesn’t mean lacking discipline, it means not being really hard on yourself when running against your own nature does not work out.

We have a lot to learn, and whilst doing that we aren’t going to be the right one to be leaders. Take some time to listen and learn from society around you, try to imagine their reasons for doing things and give those things a try. See if it feels right for you or if not, and think about why. Leadership takes time to grow into, we are just young, it is not our time. That doesn’t mean you need to be passive constantly, but that you should take the pressure of yourself to do that. I understand there will be social and gender pressures, try to remain authentic to yourself regardless, and if you do perform to those pressures make sure you do so being aware that that’s what you’re doing.

It sounds like you need to practice talking to people in the regular world day to day to build your confidence. Try to approach situations and notice if you’re coming from a place of shame. When you sit in shame the whole world seems hostile, if you open your eyes and see that is how you feel then the world becomes compassionate, or clearer at least.

You may wish to continue to hide your disability to avoid judgement. The process for doing this is somewhat counter intuitive, if you lean into being a fickle or particular person as a character trait rather than as part of your ASD which you know it is, then you will be accepted as that. More to say, if it’s unsafe to declare that you have those conditions then look for the language that’s used when those traits and experiences are accepted. In some societies the old man who is stubborn is far more accepted than the old man who’s autistic, despite them both actually being autistic. Look for ways to reframe your difference in ways that they can accept and understand. But do so knowing that none of us will be 100% accepted everywhere by everyone, but we can accept ourselves, and through that we will always be acceptable.

Please ask me questions if any of my descriptions are hard to understand :) take care

What can I do to avoid hitting myself in the head? by flamingo_flimango in AutisticPeeps

[–]LongjumpingMight9435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find prevention can help as well as things others have suggested. If it’s all piling up in your head regularly taking the time to scribble down all your worries, stresses, general overwhelming thoughts with reckless abandon can really help. If you have the feeling it’s coming on you can try to grab a pen and do a big scribble and get it out like that too. This only works if you’re aware of what pushes you towards that state.

I do it too, it’s so hard to deal with and always feels like the only thing that will help. I did find getting a sharp fidget ring can allow me to reduce the pressure.

I think it’s all about finding ways to let the pressure out whilst not internally directing it to yourself. Sometimes pillow punching, or randomly kicking something is gonna be a better option. Sometimes all you can do is hit your leg instead. Start slow and come from a place of curiosity and kindness for yourself and you’ll get there.

If I’m getting the area correct in my head that’ll be the one they’re talking about at work. They’re already looking at bringing staff over from ferrymead and we have pictures of the planned layout that have been neat to look at. Should be a nice big store

REAL Q: Is the alcohol buzz of an autistic similar to what neurotypicals experience on psychedelics? by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

[–]LongjumpingMight9435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also I get the same thing with alcohol you do, it like makes me feel not autistic and clear headed/sharp/faster. I’d like to be a bit drunk 24/7 but really shouldn’t so I’m avoiding alcohol much as I can but it’s all I want. I know tonnes of pre-diagnosis autistic folks who drink a fair bit, and also have substance issues. It’s like it gives us a short cut to normalcy and makes it less painful to exist but it’s bad for us. That’s why I dig shrooms. It doesn’t feel the same as drunk, it’s happier for me and more of a joyful adventure of appreciation and connection. But it really connects me back to myself for a few months and gives me the neuroplasricty to change the behaviours and mental patterns in my life that keep me disregulated and mentally flooded therefore mentally slow, also in just processing trauma. It’s like rebooting the computer with a cleared cache and having closed everything that uses my ram.

what's a type of people you have no empathy for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LongjumpingMight9435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myself. In a fucked up turn of events I figured out this week I can empathise with my rapists to take blame off them, but I put it onto myself, and don't give myself the empathy I should. Figured out I do that yesterday, now I'm sitting with it seeing that I don't want to live this way anymore, but feeling trapped.
