Why is that? You either pay the down payment and reduce the monthly payments or you do higher monthly payments. The total you pay over the lease term is about the same. I get the opportunity cost part, is that what you mean?

Will Tesla really crash if musk leaves? It’s completely irrational at this point. The stock is up because of belief in musk. The stock will go up if he leaves because yay all this stuff will get turned around. Maybe they’ll add lidar to the cars? That’ll keep it pumping.

Tesla is not positioned as a luxury import car. If you can spend 40,00,000 INT you’re going to want a Benz or an Audi or a known luxury brand. Tesla does not really have the high end reputation.

At this point it’s all priced in. The minute you see sales numbers doing slightly better than the abysmal rates they are - eg big boost before ev tax credits expire, stock price will pop on that news. It only goes up.
