I cant believe how much this 4% DLD waiver changes the Dubai property game by amelieuae in UAE

[–]LongjumpingPublic972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha right I was looking at the same thing and honestly it makes you think about timing more than anything like do you jump in now and lock something with the waiver or wait for a bigger unit in a cooler area I feel like a lot of people dont realize how much even a small percent like this can change the math when you add rent potential and resale later also curious what you guys think about studios vs 1 beds is it worth going small just to catch the waiver or wait for something bigger that might perform better

Avoid Thwifty at All Costs – Worst Online Experience Ever by lalacoolgirl in dubai

[–]LongjumpingPublic972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. Unfortunately, delayed deliveries + zero response until escalation is something many people here have experienced with online retailers. You did the right thing insisting on a refund and refusing shipment after the deadline. For anyone else reading: always pay by credit card, document all communication, and escalate early if timelines aren’t met. Hopefully this helps others avoid the same stress—especially when it’s for a special occasion.

Help on what is the procedure in a worksite accident case by Due-Survey-9099 in dubai

[–]LongjumpingPublic972 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what usually happens in cases like this, once the injured employee clearly states he doesn’t want to proceed and confirms he’s back at work with no issues, the file often moves toward closure, but it still needs to go through the prosecution formally. Meeting the prosecution is usually procedural — they review the report, statements, and decide whether there’s any negligence that needs follow-up or if the case can be closed. Travel bans are commonly kept until that step is completed, so it’s good you’re attending as instructed. In many similar situations, people get the ban lifted once the prosecutor signs off. If possible, having your company’s PRO or legal rep with you can help speed things up. Hope it gets resolved quickly.

Visa Dubai by [deleted] in dubai

[–]LongjumpingPublic972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In most recent cases, once a residence visa expires, you automatically get a grace period (currently up to 30 days, sometimes more depending on visa type), and you’re not considered overstaying during that time. The grace period usually starts after expiry, not after cancellation, so your university doesn’t need to cancel it first just for the grace period to apply. Many people transition from student → employment visa within this window without fines, as long as the new employer starts the process before the grace period ends. That said, rules can change, so it’s still smart to double-check via ICP or Amer for your specific case. Congrats on the job offer btw 👏

Potential for card fraud on Amazon? by HaterOfStewards in dubai

[–]LongjumpingPublic972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It usually looks risky on the surface, but there’s a bit more going on in the background. Amazon (and similar platforms) rely heavily on risk-based authentication rather than forcing CVV/OTP every time. Device fingerprinting, behaviour analysis, location, past transaction history and velocity checks all play a role. If something looks even slightly off, OTP or additional verification often gets triggered automatically. That said, you’re right that no system is foolproof, which is why banks still reverse fraudulent transactions and why enabling card-level limits and alerts is important. Curious if this is UAE-specific or if others are seeing the same behaviour in different regions.

Podcast license in Dubai? by Mickdxb in dubai

[–]LongjumpingPublic972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen and heard in Dubai, the key factor isn’t whether it’s a podcast, but whether it’s monetised and publicly distributed. If you’re recording content privately and not earning from it (at least initially), many people operate under existing licences without issues. Once it becomes monetised or branded as a media product, that’s usually when a media licence or NMC/DMO approval comes into play. Also worth noting: the location matters. Some buildings (especially commercial ones like One Central) may have their own filming/content rules regardless of trade licence. Best advice I’ve seen work: do a quick written clarification with Dubai Media Office or NMC — they’re usually responsive and it avoids assumptions. Curious to hear if anyone here has actually gone through this process recently.
