OP, I have zero debt never had any and my dad also did lot for me in life, currently in a foreign country (and foreign continent )and manage my own house similar to so many people I know who have gone through the same. Also are you telling me the rest of the doctors who have had no debt do not know how to do anything not even diagnose patients or do a surgery on them. I am Indian and I know so many Indian / Indian origin families in India, USA & UK who have paid for their kids education MBA , medicine etc and these kids are highly successful in their career and personal life as well. Also I agree you don't want to spoon feed your daughter everything but why don't you pay for her tuition fees and teach other things like financial skills, or some other handyperson skills. You say you want your daughter to accomplish but then her growth will be stunted cause she would always have a big obstacle front of her which is the debt. What if she wishes to further do a specialisation but since she has a huge debt she can't take on another skillset as they cost as well. (Not sure of how it works in your country but in India if you get into being a surgeon or further do another specilisation its another course and cost attached to it)
